Earlier this month, we heralded a new method of obtaining downloadable games for Xbox LIVE Arcade, and without all those messy points and conversions. Amazon began offering Xbox LIVE Arcade games for sale on their website, and now, WiiWare has joined in the fun.
The only one which seems to be available currently, however, is World of Goo, which demands a payment of $14.99 before you get a game code that will allow you to download the title.
I wasn't really sure of the practicality of this, other than as a gift, until I remembered the issue of having to buy a fixed number of points when going through the Wii. This helps alleviate that, though it leaves me to wonder if Sony's PlayStation Network will get in on the act soon, as they don't use a point system.
Additionally, it's curious that there are... well, a lot of XBLA games on Amazon, yet only one WiiWare game. I wonder what the story behind that is? I bet sooner or later, someone's going to point a finger at Nintendo on that one.
