Apple May Be Planning "Premium" iPhone Games

 
Apple may be planning to set a new $19.99 price point for select iPhone games, if a rumor from Pocketgamer is to be believed. This move seems to be encouraging a small group of large publishers to make more ambitious, and therefore more expensive, games. It's been stated that price point wouldn't be an option for smaller, independent developers, and would instead be an incentive towards larger publishers with higher development costs. So far Apple and the potential companies that could benefit aren't confirming the rumor, but the idea seems like a logical next step. The App Store's prices fluctuated in the first few months of its inception as developers searched for a magic price point. Most games have settled in the range of $3-8, if not completely free.
