Who knew that there was a limit on how many limbs/appendages could be shown chewed off on promotional materials? Valve sure didn't, but the Electronic Software Ratings Board (ESRB) had no problem letting them know. The ESRB told Valve that having a picture of three gnawed off fingers (pictured right) was going too far, and they would have to change their promotional material. But don't worry! It's still ok to have a thumb bitten off, just as long as the other four fingers are fine.
The revised promotional materials can be seen in the gallery below, with four of the five fingers intact (the two previously eaten away now appear curled back).". The Left 4 Dead blog goes into (fictional) detail about how they were able to come up with the new promotional materials for the game. For a game that involves killing massive amounts of people with chainsaws, guns and even frying pans, this stance seems a bit nit picky. We should be thankful though, who else would tell us that one gobbled finger is better ...
