December NPDs: Wii and DS Combine for Over 5 Million
For the second month running , the Wii has cracked the 2 million systems sold figure. As if that weren't enough for Nintendo, the DS topped that figure by selling more than 3 million systems. While Nintendo might not consider Microsoft or Sony to be their rivals, they undeniably stole the month by selling more than the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable combined by nearly 1.5 million systems. Apparently someone hasn't told Nintendo that the videogame industry isn't recession-proof . On the other hand, the PS3 was outsold by the 360 at a nearly 2-to-1 margin which should, if nothing else, lead to some interesting spins on these numbers from the platform holders.
