February NPDs: Hardware Up Across the Board, Wii Fit Leads Software
At this point, it's not even worth mentioning the Wii and DS in our NPD story headlines. It's just a foregone conclusion that they have continued to dominate the competition as they have month after month -- it's gotten to the point where I can't help but wonder if they're not just giving these things away. Both the Wii and DS bounced back after last month's expected drop off from the December numbers, while the 360, PS3, PSP, and PS2 all saw jumps in sales, too. With the release of Killzone 2 , the jump in PS3 sales wasn't as dramatic as Sony was perhaps hoping -- just under 73,000 more consoles were sold in February than January. That's nothing to sneeze at, but the PS3 still fell short of the 360's sales figures in February by more than 100,000.
The full numbers for February and January, 2009:
February 2009 Hardware Sales
Wii -- 753,000
