When Square Enix first announced Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time for DS and Wii, promising that they were essentially the same game, people were justifiably confused. How similar could they possibly be? Was Square Enix really planning on putting a tiny Nintendo DS game on the big screen? The answer, in case you were wondering, is yes. But from what I've been able to see, it comes off better than you think.
Believe it or not, the Wii version really is not so different from the portable version in that it has two side-by-side windows you can jump between using the Wii Remote. When focusing on gameplay, you can enlarge the main screen, and vice versa for the inventory and status screen. The graphics themselves are noticeably sharper than the DS version and look reasonably nice on a large television screen -- enough so that anybody who simply can't bear playing on a handheld will be able to survive while ...
