It's funny how what began on Gamecube as a poor man's Final Fantasy has transformed into one of Square Enix's most addictive and innovative franchises. The original Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles promised new heights of multiplayer interaction, but it was a nightmare to set up. And while the surprisingly accomplished DS follow-up, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates , offered good looking, Diablo -style adventuring, it's the latest chapter in the series, Echoes of Time , that realizes Crystal Chronicles' potential. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time (yes, Square Enix should shorten the name) comes in two versions Identical in functionality and visuals: One for the DS and one for the Wii .
