Despite the fact that "Resident Evil: Extinction" was largely sold as the final entry in the film series leading up to its release in 2007, the film still left wide open the possibility for a sequel. Then, it went on to successfully gross $147,717,833 worldwide. So does it really surprise anyone to learn that a fourth movie is now reportedly in development?
According to ShockTillYouDrop, an internal Sony memo they acquired lists "Resident Evil: Afterlife" for release on Spetember 17, 2010. That's in addition to director Paul W.S. Anderson revealing last year that he was writing a fourth entry in the series, and Capcom reportedly getting involved as well.
Considering the consistently low critical and fan reception to the film series so far, we can only hope the makers of this movie take a page from the videogame series, and use this fourth entry to do some substantial reinvention. Or , they could simply have a ...
