GameStop senior vice president Bob McKenzie feels that the Nintendo Wii is doing fine. With supply finally catching up to demand, he seems satisfied with the Wii's prospects for the first half of 2009. In fact, he's so bullish on the Wii that he believes a price cut is unnecessary. In an interview with Gamasutra he said:
"You know, three years later, we finally have enough inventory on the shelf, and we've got a couple of weeks in supply of this. That's good because we can finally determine and gauge it before we get into the fourth holiday season. I don't think they need to make the price move down either, on the Wii. I think finally we've gotten to the point where we're going to be able to get a real good run rate on this thing."
It will be interesting see how Wii sales pan out in 2009. Some analysts believe that the console is approaching its saturation point and that sales will slow down substantially. However, the last few months of North American and European ...
