Japanese Metroid Site Teases New Project

Well this is interesting -- a new banner on the official Japanese Metroid website appears to be teasing what may be a new spin-off title in the beloved series. As you can see above, the banner tantalizingly states "Another Side Story Coming Soon" with the image of a space pirate nearby. What's more, according to Cubed3, the Japanese text underneath translates to "Follow Metroid Prime's history from the perspective of the Space Pirates." Obviously, this seems to suggest Nintendo is working on a new Metroid game that puts players in the role of the space pirates instead of series star Samus Aran. But hold on a sec, stalwart Metroid fans. Before you get too excited, it must be mentioned that another real possibility is that the banner is simply teasing a new online manga entry, similar to Metroid "e-manga" that have been released in the past.
