The license to all of Robert Ludlum's works changed hands yesterday. Electronic Arts now has the rights to the Bourne series, and representatives of the Ludlum estate couldn't be happier.
Speaking with Variety's CutScene blog , Weiner said the Ludlum estate had been considering options such as self funding their own games after Vivendi dropped the license last year. Instead, they reached out to EA's John Riccitiello, who had been a serious bidder for the rights while still with investment firm Elevation Partners.
"John was at Elevation at the time and was a real serious bidder," Weiner explained. "So when Activision decided to terminate the license we reached out to him because we like John and it's a great company. We feel we're in a much better position now."
