Major League Gaming Receives Cash Infusion
Professional gaming hasn't taken off in the States in the same way that it has in say, Korea (and even there, it's probably not as big as you think). But Major League Gaming is still around, and investors keep giving them money.
Daily Games News is reporting that Major League Gaming has received a $7.5 million follow-on investment from Oak Investment Partners, which had previously given the league $25 million in 2006. Oak managing partner Ed Glassmeyer said he was excited to be helping build "the first digital sport the world has ever seen," and that they want to create a "global, cross-platform business to support that vision."
"MLG has become a cultural phenomenon, and the management team has made competitive gaming really matter for pros, fans, and marketers," said Glassmeyer.
