Microsoft has acknowledged that the New Xbox Experience is causing some audio issues, and is resolved to work on fixing the problem, reports ShackNews. Shortly after the update hit, some users found that their systems weren't outputting sound at all. The issue seems to be that the NXE uses an HDMI protocol that older TVs and monitors don't recognize. Microsoft issued a statement, saying they are "aware that a handful of Xbox Live users are experiencing audio issues, and are diligently monitoring this issue and working towards a solution." Users have reportedly found a few workarounds to the bug, including patching in analog sound or removing the harddrive entirely before starting the system, but neither of these are foolproof. Despite the few snags Microsoft has run into like these audio issues, the NXE rollout has had a surprisingly low error rate for hardware with the history of the dreaded Red Ring looming over it.
