Mortal Kombat Film Producer Sues To Block Midway Sale
Warner Bros. has offered to purchase Midway for $33 million , offering a new lease on life for the publisher best known for Mortal Kombat . But at least one studio isn't too pleased about the deal, enough so that they've filed a motion to block the sale (via ).
The motion comes from Threshold Entertainment's Lawrence Kasanoff, who seeks to "preserve his IP rights" when it comes to certain Mortal Kombat characters, as well as the right to create film and television based on the franchise. Kasanoff originally helped bring the franchise to the movies.
Kasanoff claims that he and Threshold were the driving forces behind Mortal Kombat's ascent from being "just a video game."
