There's a certain irony in Nintendo's choice of Pikmin to launch its line of GameCube remakes retooled to make use of the Wii's motion-based interface setup. Pikmin was a GameCube launch title, and by many accounts the system's unpopular controller was designed largely around the game; in fact, many wags referred to it as "the Pikmin controller." And now, here's Pikmin on Wii, stripped of its original control scheme -- and the better for it. You can see this as a vindication of Nintendo's Wii design or as final proof that GameCube was a failure as your personal biases and vendettas dictate, but the fact remains that this iteration of Pikmin plays as though it had been designed for Wii all along.
The new setup doesn't take especially long to adapt to; as usual for core-oriented Wii games, the main impediment to immediate mastery is the fact that the Wii Remote is an ergonomic disaster for anything that requires more than two ...
