Nintendo Building New R&D Center

Lowered profit forecasts aside, Nintendo continues to expand thanks to the absurd worldwide success of the Wii and the Nintendo DS. And in this case, that expansion is literal. Kotaku brings word via Nikkei that Nintendo is planning to construct a new hardware and software research and development center on a 40,000 square meter piece of real estate they acquired last year. According to the report, Nintendo paid approximately 12.8 billion yen for the property, which used to be a golf driving range. Nintendo will be integrating the center with its current R&D; complex, but there's no word on when construction will commence. Regardless, it's a safe bet that research for the next generation of the Wii is currently in full swing. (link)
