Pachter Predicts: Nintendo Needs to "Focus on the Hardcore" at E3

Nintendo's E3 performance last year wasn't exactly spectacular, especially if you're into more traditional games. And that is something which they should not repeat this year, according to Everyone's Favorite Analyst, Michael Pacther of Wedbush Morgan. "Last year, they focused on Wii Music, and this year, they have to focus on the hardcore," he says. "It's been three years since the last Zelda game, and two years since Mario, so they have a lot to work with. Maybe something from the distant past, like Starfox or GoldenEye. Who knows? E3 is clearly the right venue for them to cater to the hardcore, as the entire hardcore fan base is paying attention." ...whoa, Goldeneye? Unlikely; perhaps he just meant "like Goldeneye" as in "something along those lines." In any case, I don't see why there can't be a little bit of a more even spread. Or at least something closer to 60/40 or 70/30, in favor of more traditional fare. (link)
