PopCap Issues Cease-and-Desist to Peggle iPhone Clone

 
MTV Multiplayer reports that casual games mega-developer PopCap has issued a cease-and-desist order against a blatant iPhone clone of Peggle , forcing a name change. The iPhone game Peggie costs $1.99 on the App Store, and looks and plays strikingly similar to PopCap's casual hit. Clones of popular games are common on the App Store and the open nature of development makes it difficult to moderate. But this case was more obvious than most, as a small gap in the letter "i" is all that separated the name from the real thing, which will be coming to the iPhone later this year . Following the C&D; order, Peggie quickly changed its name to Pegs in Space . "We never intended to create such confusion with our title," said a representative of JSeuss, "and as such, we were happy to make the name change."
