Rare Restructures, Acknowledges "Small Number" of Job Losses Possible
As the U.S. economy continues to limp along, more game developers are being hit with layoffs. The latest that may see employees let go is Rare, according to a report from GamesIndustry.biz. "The company is reviewing the current composition of its development teams and there is the possibility that a small number of current positions could be lost," said manager Mark Betteridge.
Though the news certainly isn't good, it's being posed by the company as a streamlining for the sake of the development process. "We have felt a need to restructure our current approach so we can speed development and better manage the scale required to create high quality games," said Betteridge. "With four projects recently underway, now is the right time to make this change."
