Rumors have been swirling for the past week that Pandemic Brisbane has been cut loose by Electronic Arts. Why ditch a studio EA had only recently acquired? A good chunk of the blame seems to be on the shoulders of the aborted Dark Knight game.
Kotaku Australia has a lengthy write-up on what appears to have been a development debacle for Pandemic Brisbane. According to their sources, a new Batman game was entrusted to the studios "Bravo Team" after the completion of Destroy All Humans! 2 in late 2006. The game was in pre-production for "several months" before word came down that it had be based on the then-upcoming Dark Knight .
What followed appears to be a litany of poor decisions, technical problems and missed deadlines. Problems as were as fundamental as trying to make an open world game with a team that had no experience in that realm, and using an in-house engine (the same as the one found in the upcoming ...
