Self-Identified Lesbian Banned from Xbox Live

 
The Consumerist reports that a woman who identified herself as a lesbian in her Xbox Live profile was suspended from the service. The woman, who only goes by "Teresa," claims that she was harassed by other XBL users. "They followed me into the games and told all the players to turn me in because they didn't want to see that crap or their kids to see that crap. As if xbox live is really appropriate for kids anyways!" She goes on to say that her account was suspended. When she brought the issue up to Microsoft, the response was that other users found it "offensive." In a statement to Joystiq, Microsoft suggests that it's not anything Teresa herself did, but rather a general policy for Xbox Live. "As stated in the Xbox Live Terms of Use, a member may not create a gamertag or use text in other profile fields that include comments that look, sound like, stand for, hint at, abbreviate, or insinuate content of a ...
