Source: Inspector Threw Dirt on "Dusty PS3" So He Wouldn't Have to Repair It

Update: Corrected the order of the Visa links. Original Story: In 2007, controversy was sparked as one PlayStation 3 owner who was having problems with his console sent the unit in to be repaired under warranty. However, Sony denied the repair, citing "neglect" and pictures surfaced on the internet of the dust-covered PlayStation 3 you see above. Now, while the PS3 has its reputation as a dust-magnet, the above does seem considerably more extreme. As a result, Sony denied the repair under warranty (even though dust doesn't void the warranty), and Visa reneged on agreeing to replace it after initially agreeing to it. So, as you can see, lots of back-and-forth on the whole matter. But now, more than a year after the issue was seemingly resolved, some new testimony has come to light. Testimony that seems to indicate that, for lack of a better term, the unit was sabotaged by the inspector charged with looking at it. (link)
