Square Enix Says 'Final Fantasy XIII' Needs Ten Times The Sales Of Other Square Games

Square Enix has a lot on the line with Final Fantasy XIII . The game has supposedly been in development since 2003 when it was planned as a PlayStation 2 game. It was re-started in 2005 for the PS3, and fans have been dreaming of the awesomeness of the game since 2006's excellent Final Fantasy XII . I'd say expectations are running high. "There is an unusual sort of pressure on Final Fantasy XIII ," the game's producer Yoshinori Kitase acknowledged to EDGE magazine. In terms of sales, that pressure amounts to stratosphere-high expectations.  "I'd say we need this game to have ten times the success of these smaller titles," Kitase said. "But I don't think that means we've compromised in terms of the game design or creativity in any way.
