Executive shakeup at Sony: In a media statement, the company revealed that Sony London ( SingStar, The Getaway ) studio head Jamie MacDonald will be leaving the company at the end of this month. Neither Sony nor MacDonald have commented on the personnel change.
MacDonald started his career in entertainment technology, working for the BBC then moved over to gaming in 1995, when he joined Criterion Software, the company behind the Burnout games. MacDonald delivered their first three games for PC and Dreamcast, and helped plan, staff and research the RenderWare engine.
Since 2001, MacDonald has been at Sony. He oversaw the EyeToy and Getaway franchises as well as SingStar. He was promoted to Worldwide Studios VP in 2005.
MacDonald's isn't the only big-wig from Sony London to move to greener pastures. In September 2008, Paulina Bozek, then head of the SingStar franchise, left to work for Atari. Oh, and don't forget Phil Harrison, former head of Sony ...
