Background: I'm a life-long gamer, writer, and sports enthusiast. I've logged 15 years as a writer and have written thousands of collective words for PSM, PlayStation: The Official Magazine, Next Generation magazine, Next-Gen Online, Pelajja (a rocking Finnish magazine), N'Gai Croal's Level-up blog, a handful of European magazines (like Edge, OXB, OPM), and more. I love me some 49ers (a tough thing to do these days), SF Giants, and a handful of hoops teams from the Warriors, Lakers, and the Pistons (sorry, but I like more than one team). I prefer watching surfing and skateboarding over hockey, and soccer over golf.

That's a hell of a lot of heavy metal! Ack. Not even sure what to do with all that. I find it kind of amazing how I am not even a heavy metal fan and I am super psyched about this game.

There are several things that re terrible here, one of which includes the death of this young child, but the other is that somehow a wrestling game was the cause of it. How did this special ed kid get out of the house, didn't the mom ever see what he was playing, watching, or doing? I was 9 years old once and I never once thought I could jump off an effing rooftop. The reason why is because I know it would hurt me oh so terribly due to the hard ground that i would land on. What is shocking is that A) anyone at the age of 9 would think they could do this, and there was no supervision. Why aren't parents watching the shows or the games their kids play, and why aren't they putting those shows or games in perspective for the kids? Are parents so busy that they can't parent their own kids anymore?

Yep, the guys who run the site are totally cool, hardcore gamers who love to compete and bet. I played a round of hockey using it and had a lot of fun. I think what I like best about the site is that you can find people who are at your same skill level.

    It's a remake! It's a remake!

Well, it is. But it's a different kind of remake and so it should prove interesting. Plus, it will fun to re-play the original, which was made so very long ago...on the PlayStation!

I agree with everything the author says, but he missed one thing--the cost of development is what raised the prices of games. Piracy and reselling games secondary.

Microsoft is looking down instead of up. It should be aiming to compete with Nintendo's Wii, not Sony's PlayStation 3.

I can't say I am terribly excited about this game. It looks incredibly average. Why didn't they work with R* to extract the 2D side-scrolling game from the original Warriors and bring that to XBLA?

Microsoft's whole motivation in this generation of consoles was to beat Sony--to beat them to the market, to tout their online services as valuable, and to challenge what had been a very profitable and, in many ways complacent Sony team. So, in their little two-way pissing contest, Microsoft, right now anyway, has the upper hand with greater hardware marketshare, more hits, more games sold, and at least an equal if not greater footing in the development community. That could change, depending on how hard Sony pushes Blu-ray and how successfully MS can continue to sell Xbox 360s. But it's also true that Nintendo has beaten the pants off them both with an innovative casual system that's doing things so differently, they're almost in different spheres.

Game Prices Tumble

Chris Morris is a good writer who pays attention to the state of the industry, but this headline is misleading. "Game Prices" implies that all game prices have decreased, when the truth is far from it. Two games from Activision were lowered; that doesn't mean all games were lowered, nor does it mean anyone else is lowering their prices. Perhaps if the recession continues, publishers might lower their prices...if they get desperate enough. The catchy headline did get me to read the story even if it wasn't entirely true.

This ought to be great. It's interesting that Bungie would choose to put players in the shoes of the ODSTs (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers). I guess they couldn't bring back any of the dead Spartans, which is what people really want to play. I wonder how many new hours of the game will be added to the single-player experience?

I love it. You play Halo, therefore you're not good enough. I agree with Joystiq on this one, the more Halo a politician plays, the more he'll steer an economy (well, at least if he plays Halo Wars, that is).
