Killer Kosplay: Big Daddy and Big Daddy's Drill

I have seen a number of BioShock cosplay over the years since the game's release. Some have been pretty good, while others... yeah.

But this one may very well be the best, the king. This Big Daddy could be... The One.

That... is awesome. What really sets it off is the drill-- I don't want to get anywhere near this guy as a result. You can bet that whatever conventions this guy shows up to, airports were likely not involved in getting there.

The piece was made by Harrison Krix of Volpin Props, who is kind enough to show you how to create your own (Little Sister not included) here, complete with lots of pictures of the finished product.

Now, if we can just get enough people to make these and have them duke it out in an aquarium, we could have the greatest YouTube video of all time.

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, BioShock

BioShock 2 Multiplayer Video: "He's A Killer!"

If you thought the underwater, anti-utopian nightmare that is Rapture was a dangerous and deadly place to live in during the events of BioShock , then wait until you see what went down in the lead up to the city’s collapse in BioShock 2 ’s multiplayer mode. Just ask the poor sap who gets smashed into frozen pieces in this gameplay video...if you can find his ear that is.

Veteran video game writer Susan O'Connor (BioShock, Far Cry 2) believes that there's a lot of room to improve the writing in games, and talks to Gamasutra about narrative ways to engage the player, alongside the philosophy and craft of storytelling.

BioShock, Far Cry 2's O'Connor: Beware 'Serviceable, Not Great' Approaches To Integrating Game Writers

Veteran video game writer Susan O'Connor has been involved in many games that, in both commercial success and narrative, have become some of the industry's top projects. In our latest Gamasutra feature, she shares her perspective on how writing in games can be improved, and how developers and writers can work more effectively together. One key, in O'Connor's view, is that the writer and developer must begin working together early on in making the game's ...

BioShock 2 Special Edition Detailed And Priced

I have never sprung for a special edition of game in my life, but that streak might come to an end when BioShock 2 hits shelves on Feb. 9, 2010. 2K has revealed details about the special edition, and it’s quite an impressive collection.

The special edition includes:

13”x13” premium packaging with special slipcase and box cover art
Three posters featuring vintage ads from Rapture
A vinyl 180g LP featuring the orchestral score from the original BioShock
A CD contaiing the BioShock 2 orchestral score
A 164-page 8”x11” hardbound artbook featuring developer commentary

All of this, and a copy of the game, will run you $99.99 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version, or $89.99 for the PC version.

I’m utterly fascinated and enthralled with the BioShock universe, so any chance I can get to devour additional Rapture-y content, I’m there. Am I right, people?

BioShock Sequel gets a Fully Loaded Collector's Edition

Ever since the release of Halo 3's "Legendary Edition," a pricey collector's edition is almost expected from every big title. From Modern Warfare 2's "Prestige Edition," to DJ Hero's "Renegade Edition," the age of over-priced extras is only beginning. BioShock 2 looks to be next in line with a collector's edition of it's own.

Those willing to shell out $99.99 for the Xbox 360 or PS3 version - or $89.99 on PC - will get an art book, soundtrack CD, vinyl LP of the first BioShock's orchestral score, plus three posters. While 100 bucks seems a bit much to me, I'm sure all of you hardcore BioShock fans can't wait to get your hands on this.

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, BioShock, Halo 3, Legendary, Modern Warfare 2, DJ Hero, BioShock 2

Bioshock 2 Special Edition Announced

The 2009 trend of $100-plus special editions continues into next year with Bioshock 2 . Announced this morning at a $99.99 MSRP on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 ($89.99 for Games for Windows Live), the collector's edition of Bioshock 2 is planned for a simultaneous release alongside the regular version on February 9, 2010.

So what's in the box to justify the premium price tag? In addition to the game itself, owners of the special edition will get the requisite soundtrack CD and art book, plus a vinyl LP of the original Bioshock 's orchestral score, and three very stylish Rapture propaganda posters.

Looks like the kind of swag pile that any Bioshock fan can get excited about. But will it be worth the extra 30 bones? Let us know what you think in the comments.

BioShock 2 Boxart Reveal

The torrent of great games has only just begun. The first quarter of next year is jam-packed with an absurdly large number of fantastic titles, one of which is BioShock 2.

After winning countless game of the year awards, 2K's BioShock has gone on to carve into the video game industry a genre-defining franchise that will be remembered for years to come. WIth its unparalleled attention to detail that paves the way for it's creepy atmosphere, no first-person shooter comes even close to immersing gamers like BioShock, both figuratively and literally.

Those of you who can't wait to step into the shoes of a Big Daddy and traverse the world of Rapture once again should be quite excited to see the official boxart for the game.

Hit the cut to see a close-up shot of the boxart.

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, BioShock 2, BioShock
