Tali's back…

BioWare truly out did themselves this time around with the character models. They are detailed and move more fluidly than the last game. But, that's beside the point, the most important thing about this trailer is the fact that Tali's back!

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, BioWare, Mass Effect 2

News: BioWare addresses DA PS3 bonus issue

Providing downloads to those affected. BioWare has advised anybody having problems with the bonus disc for the PS3 Collector's Edition of Dragon Age to get in touch. The problem, according to a thread on the official forum, is that the soundtrack provided as part of the bundle is in MP3 format, but the disc it's on is a Blu-ray. PS3s won't play back MP3s stored on a Blu-ray, while most PC owners don't have a Blu-ray drive so they can't get at the content there either.
New Mass Effect 2 Character Revealed

BioWare has revealed today another new character and potential party member in the upcoming Mass Effect 2.

The fourth new character and fifth character overall to be profiled in BioWare's Mass Effect 2 videos is an Asari biotic named Samara. GameSpot's latest hands-on preview of the game describes her as a vigilante who coldly hunts down criminals – what the game calls a "Justicar."

The video introducing Samara shows her to mainly fight with biotics with much more aggression than is normally associated with Asari. According to GameSpot, players will encounter Samara on the Asari homeworld Illium in a quest to actively recruit her. She also seems to be extremely loyal to Shepard upon joining his party.

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, Mass Effect 2, BioWare

News: BioWare reveals SWTOR's Alderaan

Millions of voices suddenly etc. BioWare has officially unveiled Alderaan as a playable location in its Star Wars MMO, The Old Republic. Princess Leia's home planet, famously destroyed by the Death Star in A New Hope, is undergoing a time of political unrest at the time The Old Republic is set. Different noble houses are vying for the throne in a bloody civil war, including one supported by the Empire and one by the Republic. The scene's set for intrigue and probably a bit of skirmishing, then. The concept art and screenshots show a lavishly-appointed city and snow-capped mountain ranges - "A vision of utopia," according to the blurb - to explore. Star Wars: The Old Republic is due for release on PC when BioWare says so.
BioWare Planning To Continue Developing For PS3

The PlayStation 3 version of Dragon Age: Origins has been criticized for framerate issues, but BioWare says that they are now familiar with the platform. Consequently, the studio is 'definitely' planning on putting more projects on the PS3.

"We did partner with Edge of Reality, so we partnered with folks who have had the experience, and that was a good process where we actually had some folks that knew how to do it but also, in general, just worked together with them," co-founder Greg Zeschuk told Joystiq .

"We have quite a few people working in-house as well. We think it's one of the key platforms, obviously, so we're definitely going to be doing PS3. You know, I can't say anything about Mass Effect in that regard but you know, I can definitely say? other things we do will definitely be on PS3."

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, PS3, BioWare, Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect

BioWare to Keep Developing on PS3

BioWare is apparently satisfied with PS3 development, as they have expressed intentions to continue in-house PS3 development in the future. They have denied any effect this may have on the Mass Effect franchise.

BioWare, unlike many traditionally PC developers, seems to have become comfortable with PS3 development with that version of Dragon Age Origins. "It was great going through the experience of making Dragon Age, getting familiar with and understanding the PS3," said BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk to Joystiq in an interview, acknowledging the differences in the platform. "Again, every platform is different, but now I think we're at the position where future PS3 stuff will be really solid."

The logical thing to ask about after this was the possibility of Mass Effect games appearing on the PS3. BioWare continues to neither confirm nor deny.

"We're not saying anything about Mass Effect for PS3. I don't know anything about that! That's crazy talk. I don't know anything about that," Zeschuk ...

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, PS3, BioWare, Mass Effect, PC, Dragon Age: Origins

News: Mass Effect 2 video shows off Adept class

Plus: Quarian team-member Tali returns. BioWare has popped out two new videos for Mass Effect 2; one showing the improvements made to the Adept class and the other detailing the return of Tali. Adepts wield the game's biotic abilities with more power and breadth than any other class. Available to them are abilities Warp, Shockwave, Singularity, Throw and Pull as well as Heavy Pistol and Submachine Gun weapon training. "We've improved Biotic powers for Mass Effect 2. You can curve them around corners or around cover to hit hidden enemies. You can precisely angle a throw or pull to send an enemy flying off an edge. And when you combine multiple powers on a target the results are devastating," said Christina Norman, lead game designer, during the video.
Mass Effect 2 PC System Requirements, DRM Revealed

The system requirements for the PC version of Mass Effect 2 have been revealed, along with the surprisingly barebones DRM that BioWare will employ in the sequel -- which is to say very little DRM at all.
"The boxed/retail PC version of Mass Effect 2 will use only a basic disk check and it will not require online authentication," wrote BioWare community director Chris Priestly in his announcement post on their official forum. "This is the same method as Dragon Age: Origins . Digital versions will use the retailer's protection system."
As for the system requirements, you can find the quite reasonable prerequisites (both minimum and recommended) below.

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, Mass Effect 2, PC, BioWare, Dragon Age: Origins

Another Jedi, another Sith. The wraps have been torn off the final two character classes in BioWare's MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic. They are the Jedi Consular and Sith Inquisitor. The classes made their first appearance in German magazine PC Games, as scanned by StarWarsMMO.net, translated by an official site forumite, and confirmed by BioWare's Sean Dahlberg. They're the second Jedi and Sith to be added to The Old Republic's line-up - the Jedi Knight and Sith Warrior have already been revealed - meaning that four of the game's eight classes wield the Force. The others are the Trooper and Smuggler on the Republic side, and the Bounty Hunter and Imperial Agent for the Empire.
Entire Mass Effect 2 Team to be Put to Work on DLC Once Game is Finished

Project Director Casey Hudson on the Mass Effect 2 team has come out and said that once the game is complete "pretty much" the entire team will begin creating additional download content for Mass Effect 2.

"One of the things that we weren't able to do technically was to have the support in the game itself for certain kinds of downloadable content, It either had to be a huge pack or nothing" Hudson said. ME2 will offer more in the way that it can deliver DLC to the players, "it's technically possible to do a whole range of different kinds of downloads".

Hudson didn't reveal what kind of DLC we should expect to see, but he did say they listen to fan base feedback and take that into huge consideration when working on stuff like this. So make sure you guys get out there and make your opinions and ideas heard to BioWare once Mass Effect 2 ships.

This is some awesome news for Mass Effect 2 fans all around the world, should we expect DLC as big and grand as the DLC Grand Theft Auto 4 has received?
Mass Effect 2 GameStop Pre-Order Bonus Items Trailer

Last month, BioWare revealed that gamers who pre-order its upcoming sequel Mass Effect 2 at GameStop will receive two rather choice bonuses: Terminus Assault Armor and the M-90 Blackstorm heavy weapon. Well, now GameStop has released a little trailer for the items, and while I’m usually against this whole “exclusive items for pre-ordering” business, the M-90 demonstration has me questioning that belief.

BioWare Planning Mass Effect 2 'Surprise' Next Week

According to a cryptic message posted on their official Facebook account, BioWare is planning to announce some sort of Mass Effect 2 "surprise" next week. Which is to say, at any time starting tomorrow.
"Man, so much time tied up today in meetings and 'secret stuff' I didn't get any time with ME2 at all. =(" the Facebook posting reads ( Cinemablend , via VG247 ). "Still with the coming surprise for next week on the ME2 website, I'm sure fans will forgive me for no update. Did I, Evil Chris Priestly, just drop a hint? Yes. Yes I did."
With Mass Effect 2's January 26 release already so close, it's hard to say exactly how big a surprise BioWare could still have up their sleeves. Perhaps another new character to reveal? Guess we'll find out some time next week.

RPG 'secret' comes out in the form of new add-on 'Return To Ostagar'.

BioWare yesterday teased ardent Dragon Agers with the announcement that "something cool" was on the horizon. Well, we can finally reveal that that piece of impending coolness is - it's a new downloadable add-on, set to release over the winter period.
'Return to Ostagar' in New Dragon Age: Origins DLC

Bioware announced today that it would be releasing DLC for Dragon Age: Origins this holiday season. Players will literally Return to Ostagar. The expansion involves a quest, a King Cailan, and said king's honor. If you've played the game that might make sense, but I have my doubts.

This marks the third DLC pack to be released for the game since it was released. This is an unprecedented pace for DLC for a game that doesn't involve guitars or bands.

The expansion will cost 400 MS points, 400 Bioware points, or $5 in the Playstation Store. As is usual EA has received some criticism for not including this obviously planned DLC on the disc in the first place. Considering the game on the disc could take 60+ hours it does beg the question: what do gamers paying $60 "deserve."

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, Dragon Age: Origins, BioWare, Electronic Arts

PlayStation 3 | More Dragon Age DLC takes wing this holiday

BioWare's next add-on for dark-fantasy RPG, Return to Ostagar, heads to 360, PS3, PC later this year for $5.

BioWare didn't wait long before augmenting Dragon Age: Origins with downloadable content; it didn't wait at all , in fact. When Dragon Age shipped for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on November 3, players who picked up new copies of the dark fantasy role-playing game were given free access to The Stone Prisoner (a $15 add-on, otherwise). EA also offered the Warden's Keep expansion for $7 (MSP560) on day one.

Where will Loghain be in all of this?

Following through with its promise to continue supplying Dragon Age with new DLC over the next 12 months, BioWare announced today the latest add-on pack, Return to Ostagar. The add-on pack will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC sometime this holiday season for $4.99 (MSP400).

BioWare Announces Additional Dragon Age DLC

The release of Dragon Age: Origins downloadable content is continuing at a rapid pace. Electronic Arts and BioWare have just announced Return to Ostagar, the third set of DLC to arrive since the game's release earlier this month.

As the name implies, the DLC pack takes players back to Ostagar, the "site of the Grey Wardens' darkest hour." There it seems that it will be possible to "discover King Cailan's top-secret political agenda." Naturally, there will be plenty of epic loot to make the trip worthwhile.

At the moment, there are two sets of DLC available for Dragon Age. Stone Prisoner grants access to the Golem Shale, while Warden's Keep opens up a new area to explore. While Stone Prisoner was available for free in some versions, BioWare and EA have been criticized by some for not including all of the DLC in the original game.

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, BioWare, Electronic Arts, Dragon Age: Origins
