FFXIII Xbox 360 Promotion Giving Away Avatar Chocobos

Xbox 360 fans are being rewarded for spreading the word of Final Fantasy XIII , in the form of an adorable little bird. The "Register, Tweet and Win" promotion encouraged users to register at Xbox.com and use to use Twitter to tweet the hash tag #FFXIIIXBOX, in order to get word out about the game coming to the Xbox 360. The effort was for a previously undisclosed prize, but today Microsoft and Square revealed that it's a Chocobo for 360 Avatars. Users will get their download codes for the Avatar items in late December, and users can still visit the registration page to score their own. Registering now promises a Chocobo whether you use Twitter or not. So users tweeted to get a Chocobo. Get it? Try not to think too much about this revelation coming the day before millions of Americans collectively sit down to eat birds. Red Dead Redemption 'Debut' trailer HD The bulk of the holiday releases are now on the market, but it doesn't look like the releases will be letting up with the new year. Rockstar has just narrowed the release window for Red Dead Redemption , which is slated to hit next year alongside a bevy of other releases. The western sandbox title will be arriving in April 2010, with a more specific release date due alongside a new trailer. Final Fantasy XIII , Splinter Cell: Conviction and BioShock 2 are just a few of the other big releases to be arriving in the same period.

Here it is, folks, the last trailer for Final Fantasy XIII before it is released in Japan next month. It's all in Japanese for now, but we'll update if an English language version is made available. While much of the trailer comes from previous trailers, there is some new content - most notably revealing some new villains. The game is set for release December 17 in Japan for the PS3, and will also be on Xbox 360 when it makes its North American and European landfall March 9.

With Final Fantasy XIII's Japan release only weeks away, news has been pouring in regarding what to expect from the series' next installment. While Japanese gamers don't have to wait long to get their hands on the game, North American and European gamers will have to wait until March 9 to explore the world of Cocoon. There is however, one more tidbit of content that is sure to come our way before year's end. In fact, you can expect to see a new trailer, the final trailer for the game on Wednesday of next week. FFXIII Gets "T" Rating Long After Nintendo Tried Marketing Original to Adults

Following the announcement of a release date, The Examiner reports that Final Fantasy XIII now has a rating by the ESRB. And that rating is... T for Teen. Like you thought it would be anything else. The reason for the rating is Violence (natch), Mild Language (yippee), and Suggestive Themes-- hello. Examiner says that "While the rating shouldn't be a shock to anyone, the use of suggestive themes could be. With the game appearing to have a heavy atmosphere of love and caring, two women who link together to form a car, are surely some other sexual like surprises, the suggestive themes are likely to be minor sequences." On a related note, did you know that Nintendo once tried to market the original NES Final Fantasy toward adults?

Final Fantasy XIII will be releasing on Xbox 360 and PS3 in the US and PAL territories simultaneously, it has been announced. With the date of March 9 confirmed, it seems those of us in Europe (and presumably Australia) will be playing the anticipated JRPG just a few months after Japan’s December release. It has also been reported that Britain’s very own manufactured star, Leona Lewis will be contributing her song ‘My Hands’ to be the game’s official theme. FFXIII sparked a good deal of controversy among Playstation fans last year when Square Enix announced it would be releasing on Microsoft’s console in NTSC and PAL territories. Despite some initial fanboy anger, few would dispute that a larger market means more sales and Square will no doubt be shifting millions of units when the game hits early next year. New Details on Final Fantasy XIII Weapon Upgrade System

Even after finally revealing the March 9 North American release date, Square Enix is still figuring out ways to slowly drip new Final Fantasy XIII information seemingly every week. This week, Shonen Jump ( via Andriasang) has provided some new details on the weapons upgrade system that'll be featured in the game, as players will evidently improve a character's weapon into entirely new forms. According to the somewhat light details, players will gather certain materials over the course of the game that can be used for weapon upgrading. There will be over 100 different kinds of such materials, and the right combinations will allow weapons to gain experience and upgrade into new forms. Two examples were provided for the weapons of two party members. First is Lightning's sword, which starts off as "Blaze Edge" but with the right modifications can become the improved "Slash Carbine." Congratulations all you diehard Final Fantasy fans. You now know the exact day when all interaction with friends and family will cease, as Square Enix today announced that its highly anticipated role-playing game Final Fantasy XIII will be released in North America and Europe on March 9, 2010, for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. “We know that our fans have been eagerly awaiting the next installation of the franchise -- Final Fantasy XIII will exceed all expectations. Last week, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada stated that Final Fantasy XIII could feasibly be out overseas at the end of the 2009-2010 fiscal year. Well, it's actually coming out a little sooner than that. Today, Square Enix finally confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII will go on sale in North America and Europe on March 9. As previously stated, the game will launch day-and-date on both the PS3 and Xbox 360. Ready your hair gel and your gi-normous swords, everyone. The wait is on. In the meantime, Famitsu has revealed details of the new character growth system, along with Hope's summon and the way the game uses series mainstay the chocobo. Square Enix Putting "Final Touches" On English Final Fantasy XIII

The evidence is adding up. In addition to Square Enix teasing a secret announcement related to Final Fantasy XIII , a new interview with Square Enix president Yoichi Wada at GamesIndustry.biz reveals the company has finished work on the Japanese version and the "final touches" are being applied to the North American and European versions of the game, currently slated for a vague "2010" release. "The last stage of development has gone very smoothly this time," said Wada. Wada's referring to the long-gestation and troubled development of Final Fantasy XII , which started development in 2001 but suffered massive delays and did not see a release until 2006. Rumor: XIV Content Coming to Final Fantasy XIII?

Those of you dying to get your hands on Square's latest entry in the Final Fantasy franchise may have a few additional surprises in store. According to a scan from Japanese magazine Shonen Jump, the game will include a "campaign code" for Final Fantasy XIV. While details beyond that are scarce, I wouldn't be all to surprised if this ends up being a beta for the series' next MMO. Looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer before find out exactly what to expect from this code. I don't know about you, but I could do without the XIV content anyway... just give me FF XIII.

We know when Final Fantasy XIII is arriving in Japan (December 17). Outside of a vague "2010," however, Square Enix hasn't said when the rest of the world (specifically me ) when Final Fantasy XIII is coming. Square Enix teased an anagram on their website over the weekend, though, which Final Fantasy XIII.net hacked away at before coming up with something mighty interesting. "A Henchmen Inventor Tent Unto" suddenly made sense as "Announcement Nov Thirteenth." It's speculation on my part, but there's very little Square Enix could surprise us with at this point about Final Fantasy XIII that would warrant a tease -- in English, no less -- other than a solid release date for the game.
