News: Noby Noby Boy reaches Jupiter

Planet contains random nonsense. Surprise. Keita Takahashi's certifiable PSN game Noby Noby Boy has reached Jupiter on its stretchy journey through the solar system. BOY's astral girlfriend, called GIRL, grows according to the collective BOY-stretching of all players of the game. She reached the moon on 23rd February, Mars on 23rd May and the gas giant last Friday, 20th November, according to Kotaku. GIRL's journey has had to sped along by adding a multiplier to players' scores after the game sold poorly. Katamari creator Takahashi revealed at GDC that it would take 820 years to span the solar system at the initial 1:1 ratio.
Interview: Capy Talks Critter Crunch, Mobile Horrors

Capy is a small independent game studio from Toronto, now 23 people strong. I met most of the company's founders at the 2003 GDC as OkayFun - a small team with a very odd idea for a game (competitive skydiving), and no development experience, but a lot of heart and intelligence. Since those days, the company became Capybara, and released a number of games on mobile devices over the years - some of which were ...

Assassin's Creed 2's Plourde On Why 'Fail Early, Fail Often' Is The Wrong Approach

Patrick Plourde, the lead designer on Assassin's Creed 2 at Ubisoft Montreal, isn't a big fan of that whole "fail early, fail often" thing, ubiquitous as it may be among game design talks. "Oftentimes I visit sites like Gamasutra or go to talks like GDC, and one thing they always say, this recent trend -- it's interesting but it doesn't relate to me," Plourde said during a session at the Montreal International Game Summit today, ...

News: WiiWare scaled by Rock 'n Roll Climber

Also: My Zoo! Ninja Gaiden! Touch Golf. Balance board game Rock 'n Roll Climber has been added to the WiiWare line-up for 800 Wii Points (approx. £5.60/€8). The game, unveiled at GDC as one WiiWare's hot prospects, uses the balance board, Wiimote and nunchuk to simulate mountain-climbing. There are indoor walls to practice on before you head outside to scale slippery waterfalls, treacherous mountains and thick jungles in search of glory. My Zoo is the other game on WiiWare and costs 500 Wii Points (approx. £3.50/€5). Made by Hudson, this involves animal breeding and, it seems, cleaning up their bottom-produce. Over-feeding will result in fat stock, while under-feeding may get you eaten. The latter might not be true. Factor in different feeding times and the unique demands of each species, and My Zoo may be more than meets the eye.
