No More Weekly Downloadable Content For Rock Band Unplugged Planned

Rock Band Unplugged has been receiving weekly downloadable content just like the rest of the Rock Band franchise, but that's over as of this week. When the week came and went without an announcement of new Rock Band Unplugged content, Joystiq contacted Harmonix, who told the blog the weekly content updates were over.
Future content hasn't been ruled out, it just won't happen on a weekly basis anymore. Harmonix said it's possible Rock Band Unplugged will receive content as "part of event releases."
Did you purchase any additional content for Rock Band Unplugged ?

PSP | Harmonix concludes 'planned' Rock Band: Unplugged DLC

MTV Games confirms PSP installment of rhythm game has no new content releases in store for the foreseeable future.
When MTV Games and Harmonix announced Rock Band: Unplugged for the PSP, much to-do was made of the game's in-game store. A first for the PSP, the in-game store allowed Unplugged owners to buy and download new songs for the portable rhythm game in a manner similar to how new content is delivered to the console editions of the game. Unfortunately, that store isn't likely to see any new additions in the near future.

Harmonix is unplugging the DLC stream.

MTV Games has confirmed for GameSpot that Harmonix does not currently have any plans to continue releasing downloadable songs for Rock Band: Unplugged on the PSP. However, the publisher did note that Harmonix may add new tracks to the nearly 100 tunes currently available on disc or for purchase as part of special events.

Looks like the Rock Band Network won't be going live in November after all. Instead, the ambitious new service that will allow any musician to turn their music into a Rock Band track will be launching sometime in 2010 (via Kotaku ).

"We're working hard to get the Rock Band Network open public beta release of tools up before the end of the year, with our RBN storefront launching in early 2010. Exact dates still to be determined. The tools necessary for bands to start authoring and preparing their content for review are already live on http://creators.rockband.com/tools/download ," said a Harmonix spokesperson.

"The open beta launch will add access to the currently private website where all of the RBN community activity and peer reviewing of tracks will take place. People who join the Rock Band Network (bands, fans or otherwise) will be able to play and preview any song before it hits the store, so they should stay ...

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, Rock Band, Harmonix

Harmonix Surpasses Promise of 1000 Rock Band Songs

Harmonix promised just three months ago that they would have a thousand Rock Band songs available by 2010. Today, the company announced that not only has it done so, but it has surpassed the milestone. Now the song database for the series includes over 1000 songs from about 400 music artists. Harmonix stated:

When we launched Rock Band two years ago, we made a promise to create a music gaming experience that delivered on a weekly basis more songs and artists than ever imagined. We're extremely proud to pass this remarkable milestone of over 1,000 songs in Rock Band and will continue to innovate and bring more of the best music to Rock Band players all over the world.

According to Kotaku, a Rock Band Music Network Music Store will be launching soon, allowing independent bands to upload their own work for users to purchase. The number of available songs is sure to skyrocket soon because of this.

PlayStation 3 | Rock Band song library hits 1,000

Harmonix and MTV Games reach milestone between on-disc, downloadable tracks for rhythm franchise.
When Rock Band was first announced in April 2007, Harmonix founder Alex Rigopoulos laid out his ambition for the project , saying the developer had "very big plans for building out a huge library of online expansion content." That ambition has been soundly realized, as this week the Rock Band platform reached a new milestone, with 1,000 songs available on disc or as downloadable content.

Rock Band will never sport a true "never-ending setlist," but it gets a little closer every week.
That tally spans songs from Rock Band, Rock Band 2, Lego Rock Band, the PSP adaptation Rock Band Unplugged, and hundreds of downloadable songs that can be played across multiple games. It also includes the retail-exclusive AC/DC track pack's 18 songs, but omits The Beatles: Rock Band, as that game and its downloadable content are not compatible with ...

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, Rock Band, PS3, Harmonix, Guitar Hero

The overall Rock Band music game platform now features over 1,000 songs from 390 artists available across disc-based and downloadable sources, say publisher MTV Games and developer Harmonix. Those tracks, both free and paid, have been downloaded some 60 million times by Rock Band players, making for an impressive average per-track download count of 60,000. (That number is likely higher for download-only tracks, since songs included with base game discs need not be downloaded.) The ...

News: Beatles DLC screws up online modes

Problem only appears to affect Europe. Owners of The Beatles: Rock Band for PS3 are complaining they're unable to play the game online since downloading extra content. According to a thread on the Rock Band forum, the problem only affects gamers in Europe. It appears to be connected to the release of the Abbey Road DLC and has been going on since the end of last month. A Harmonix staff member responded to the thread, writing, "I'm checking in constantly with the team investigating this issue to try to find out what's going on... Collecting as much information and researching the potential causes will lead to an expedient fix and hopefully prevent an issue like this from occurring in the future." Read more... > >

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, PS3, The Beatles: Rock Band, Rock Band, Harmonix

Dhani Harrison: Rock Band 3 will Teach You to Play Music

Rock Band 3 as both a party game and an educational tool? Sounds a little too convenient... Like Baconnaise. For the uninitiated, that's bacon flavored mayonnaise, and yes, it really exists.

So would you want your ...

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, Rock Band, Will Wright, Music, Harmonix, The Beatles: Rock Band
