LittleBigPlanet Has Received a Huge New Update 1.21

For those of you who are still playing with your sacks.... There is a brand new patch to play with that adds some things that were definitely needed.

First of all the saving of games is a lot quicker now, so no more waiting for it to save forever. The big thing to me is that they now have online create mode with friends. You can only use the online creation mode with people on your friends list (so no random quickplay type thing). The good thing about the online creation mode is that each player has their own camera, so that means each person can build without hindering one another from getting to far away from each other and making the camera pan out.

There are also a few back-up features added to the game, save game back-up, export back-up, import back-up, level back-up, export level, and import level. That's a lot of backing up. You can also now save double the amount of stickers and costumes than before.

So hop online and get to downloading and start creating!

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, LittleBigPlanet

News: Media Molecule hails BAFTA success

"More versatility" coming to LittleBigPlanet. Another awards night, another prize for Media Molecule, which last night collected the BAFTA for Best Videogame at the 2009 Children's Awards, having picked up the Artistic Achievement prize at the gaming ceremony earlier this year. Clutching the weighty award, presented by The Gadget Show's Jason Bradbury, studio boss Mark Healey told Eurogamer: "It means a lot. It was always an early ambition to make something that appeals to adults and kids, specifically that adults and kids could play together and have fun and I suppose winning this some way confirms that maybe we did that. "We've won so many awards for it, it's like, how do we ever top this? I don't think I'll appreciate how really cool it is until I'm old!" Read more... > >

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, PS3, LittleBigPlanet, The Mark

Four-player map making! Media Molecule will roll a LittleBigPlanet patch called Leedrammer out today that adds, among other things, four-player online cooperative map-making! Until now, only two could work together on new stages. Leedrammer also brings location-based matchmaking and a faster, improved save system that backs-up profiles and levels (hooray!). There's twice as much space for photos and costumes on the Popit menu too. Head over to the Media Molecule website for a roundup of the smaller changes as well as a video walkthrough of the Leadrammer update.
Little Big Planet to Add Online Creation Next Week

Little Big Planet is set to get one of its long-awaited features next week, according to a new post on the game's site. Since the game's release, fans have lamented the lack of online support for the creation features, and that's finally one of the new additions of version 1.21. The update also adds a host of other changes, including matchmaking tweaking, improved save data, and increased profile space. There are also numerous minor updates, like an Auto-Reject function for game invites and Silver Sackboy badges for incomplete levels.

The update is due out next Monday, November 30, and has been named the "Leerdammer" update after a cheese that "becomes more pronounced with age." Considering the size of the update, and the fact that Little Big Planet is over a year old now, it seems like a fitting name.

Little Big Planet PSP Finally Releasing on PSN Tomorrow

As if PSP Go owners didn't already have a raw enough deal -- having to pay a premium for that sliding screen, being unable to play UMDs, and not having access to the entire PSP games catalog -- they've been unable to enjoy Little Big Planet PSP since its planned release last week due to some technical difficulties in releasing the game on the PlayStation Store. Whereas the UMD version made it to stores fine, enabling anyone with a pre-Go PSP to play the game, Go owners have been waiting patiently for Sony and Media Molecule to fix the problem. Finally, a week after release (in what worked out to be a week-long exclusive for retail), the game will be released on the PlayStation Store sometime tomorrow.

Whether you pick up the downloadable version tomorrow or already have the UMD, an update is now available for the game that improves the "performance of some of the physics and tools in the Create mode." Updates aren't ...

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, PSP, LittleBigPlanet

Media: ModNation Racers - Express Yourself Trailer and Customized Gameplay Montage

Two new trailers are now available for ModNation Racers, the game which appears to be to LittleBigPlanet what Super Mario Kart is to Super Mario Bros., except without the actual sharing of characters, and... well, I guess it's an overall pretty bad analogy, really.

Still, what LBP is to platformers, ModNation Racers appears to be to kart racing games, so that's good enough for me. And in the first trailer we have for you today, United Front Games shows how you can express yourself in the game:

Video Games | ModNation Racers | Express Yourself TrailerXBox 360 | Playstation 3 | Nintendo Wii

Even with the racer customization, I can't help but think that a Sackboy download might be a cool addition. Or a Rabbid, for that matter.

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, ModNation Racers, Mario, LittleBigPlanet, PS3, Nintendo

President's "Digital Learning Initiative" Using Little Big Planet

President Obama's new initiative to use digital media as a means of education is set to use Little Big Planet as a learning tool, reports GamePolitics. The Digital Learning Initiative is being headed up by the office of the President, with various partnerships with the MacArthur Foundation, HASTAC, and National Lab Day. The $2 million competition consists of two categories: 21st Century Learning Lab Designers and Game Changers. It's the latter one that incorporates Media Molecules adorable platformer.

Game Changers asks players to create Little Big Planet content that includes science, engineering, and math concepts. Sony Computer Entertainment America and the Entertainment Software Association are funding the competition as well, and Sony will be donating 1,000 PlayStation 3 systems with copies of Little Big Planet to low-income libraries and community organizations. The winners will be announced in the spring, and ...

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, LittleBigPlanet, SCEA, Entertainment Software Association, Sony, PS3

Finally, a Sonic side-scrolling game returns to consoles! Well, sort of. Sega and Media Molecule have teamed up to add Sonic and friends to the playable skins in LittleBigPlanet, revealed at the site for PlayStation Asia.

Now, you can dress up Sackboy as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Dr. Eggman, or the Were-hog. And maybe, if you squint ever so slightly, you can go back to an age where Sonic games used to be good.

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, Sonic, LittleBigPlanet, Sega, SackBoy, Eggman

ModNation Racers Hands-On Preview

Little Big Planet launched the "Play, Create, Share" mantra into gamers' minds last year, and now with ModNation Racers , Sony hopes to mine similar success from a kart racer with similarly robust creation and customization options. Before kicking off the online beta test in December, developer United Front Games opened the doors of its Vancouver studio to let us test out those tools and get a sense of what to expect from ModNation Racers' retail release next spring.

Inspired by the DIY vinyl toy scene (where artists purchase blank figurines and customize them in oft-wondrous ways), ModNation Racers eschews the genre's typical franchise or licensed characters in favor of blank-slate drivers that can be manipulated via an accessible character creation interface. But unlike the real vinyl toys, you won't need markers, brushes, or physical artistic skill to turn the ModNation version into something that represents you and your ...

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, ModNation Racers, LittleBigPlanet, Sony

Despite US digital delay. Sony has told Eurogamer that the PSP version of LittleBigPlanet will be uploaded to the PlayStation Store in Europe today ahead of the game's retail release tomorrow. It will cost £21.99 online. The news comes after US gamers were told they would probably have to wait a little while for LBP due to "hiccups", in the words of senior producer Mark Green on the US PlayStation blog. The game came out in shops there on Tuesday. Green said Sony was "currently working around the clock to get this issue worked out". In a separate statement to Kotaku, SCEA said, "The goal is to have the titles available on the same day, and that is usually the case." Read more... > >

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, LittleBigPlanet, Sony, PSP, The Mark, SCEA

Little Big Planet is now available, but you won't be able to find it in the PlayStation Store. Apparently the release has suffered a few "hiccups," which has prevented it from making its way it online for the time being.

"We are aware that the game is not yet available on the PlayStation Store, but we're currently working around the clock to get this issue worked out so keep your eyes peeled for updates this week. We appreciate you bearing with us!" Senior Producer Mark Green wrote on the PlayStation Blog .

He also briefly discussed the challenges the team faced when it came to implementing the game's physics, as well as the game's 38 new levels. For more complete impressions, check out our review , which awarded the game a B+.

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, LittleBigPlanet, The Mark

Sony Explains LittleBigPlanet PSP Downloadable Version Delay

Sony’s LittleBigPlanet for the PlayStation Portable went on sale yesterday, but what PSP owners, especially PSP Go owners, might have noticed is that the game has yet to show up on the PlayStation Store in downloadable form like it was meant to.

The good news is that Sony is fully aware of the problem, and they are working to solve the issue at this very moment. I contacted Sony to find out what was causing the delay, and I was told that Sony is having some issues with the PlayStation Network, but that those issues should be resolved shortly.
So while you’re waiting to download your very own copy of the game, feel free to check out my review to find out more about this adorable portable platformer.

LittleBigPlanet PSP

If it genuinely is true that little things please little minds, then you may well have to consider us a bunch of pea-brains; LittlebigPlanet has arrived on the PSP and we’ve got big old smiles plastered across our faces! With this portable, pocket-sized version of Media Molecule’s modern classic, Studio Cambridge have managed to replicate the original with glorious authenticity.
The original LittleBigPlanet was actually met with a strangely mixed reception; though a critical darling and multiple award winner, it achieved solid if unspectacular sales and was decried by some as being the emperor’s new clothes; a fairly standard platformer garnished with posable sackboys and an emphasis on user generated content. In honesty, a year after release it is easy to forget the effortless charm exuded by the chirpy little sackboy and his wonderfully (arts and) crafted universe, but now LittleBigPlanet PSP has arrived as a timely reminder as to why we so loved the little hessian chap ...

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, LittleBigPlanet, PS3, Sony, PSP

REVIEW: LittleBigPlanet for the PSP is Like a Tasty Sundae Missing the Hot Fudge Known as Multiplayer

What the Game's About
LittleBigPlanet PSP is the continuation to one of the best games of 2008 that forever changed the landscape of gaming. The game centers around the concept of "Play, Create and Share." More than just marketing lingo, those three words best describe LittleBigPlanet. The PSP version is no different. LittleBigPlanet on the PSP can boast that only a few features had to be left on the cutting room floor. The platforming is good, the creation tools are just as beefy and the winning charm oozes out with the creativity on display. LittleBigPlanet is going to fill a large hole in the PSP library thanks to the crafty work of Sony Cambridge and MediaMolecule.

What's Hot
LittleBigPlanet might share the same name with the PS3 game but this a game all its own. The locations are new and there are additional costumes and stickers to further customize the look and style of the Sackboys and Sackgirls you play as. The stages are diverse and varied. They will take you from an ancient middle eastern ...

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, LittleBigPlanet, PSP, PS3

LittleBigPlanet PSP Review

Sony wastes no time in bringing their top-shelf PS2 and PS3 franchises to the PSP, but putting Little Big Planet on PSP always seemed weird. Maybe because the original game was made out to be the ultimate PS3 title; a mindblowing convergence of visual splendor and internet connectivity. Really, though, it was just a good action game, and no matter what, LBP is still as great (and great-feeling) a game as ever on PSP, even though in some ways, it may be a little too faithful for its own good.

Even though this PSP version is just called "Little Big Planet" with no alliterative subtitles attached, it's not a straight port. The single-player story levels are all new, and take on the same globetrotting-with-a-light-dusting-of-stereotypes theme as the original. You go around the world, starting "Down Under" and moving westward to "Tinsel Town." There are only seven of these areas to visit compared with the eight full "worlds" in the ...

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, LittleBigPlanet, PSP, PS3, Sony, PS2

Review: Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier

Return of the Eco warrior. Typical. You wait four years for a decent PSP platformer and two come along at once. First there was LittleBigPlanet, an almost perfect example of a great game made miniature. Now here comes Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier, another good-looking, highly playable platform game. And this one's got guns. Like LBP PSP the game has not been designed by the series' creators. The Lost Frontier is the work of High Impact Games, previously responsible for the enjoyable Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters and the less impressive Secret Agent Clank. Now the studio has turned its attentions to Naughty Dog's mascots (or so they were until Nathan Drake turned up, all lost Baldwin in a Gillette advert). The good news for veteran Jak fans is High Impact has done its history homework, taking elements and influences from the best instalments in the series - i.e. not Jak X. Read more... > >

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, Jak, Daxter, PSP, LittleBigPlanet, Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters

An undead army of old sprite-based mascots from platforming games, 2D fighting games, side-scrolling shooters, and beat-'em-ups are shuffling through the streets, craving mindshare. Many games that return to those old styles of play— Little Big Planet , Street Fighter IV , Shadow Complex , and Castle Crashers —are among the best games of this console cycle.

And then there’s Namco’s latest Dragon Ball game.

[image1]Rather than feeling like a nostalgic return to the good old days of the side-scrolling beat-'em-up, Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo is more like a cranky old man who just woke up from a decades-long slumber. Reviving the original mid-80’s Dragon ...

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo , Wii, LittleBigPlanet, Street Fighter IV, Shadow Complex

Review: LittleBigPlanet

Now even littler. "Play, create, share." That's the official motto - or tagline, depending how cynical you are - of LittleBigPlanet. The idea being you play through a series of platforming levels, create your own (with the option to throw in items collected during the platforming bit), and share them online.
PSP | Little Big Planet sequel 'counterproductive' - Media Molecule

PS3 developer discounts follow-up to user-generated content-heavy puzzle-platformer, saying new installment would harm player community.
Media Molecule's Little Big Planet has been one of Sony's most successful PlayStation 3 exclusives, both as a stand-alone retail release and as a platform for downloadable content. So, when a June job listing revealed the Guildford, England-based developer was staffing up for a "ground-breaking, AAA, PS3 title for Sony Computer Entertainment," many believed that a sequel was on the way.

Sackboy apparently has plenty more costumes in the works.

However, that now appears not to be the case. In a recent interview with UK gaming site Critical Gamer , Media Molecule level designer Danny Leaver discounted the idea of a Little Big Planet sequel for the PlayStation 3, due to the harmful impact it would have on the player community.

"We'd never want to do that," he said. "That'd be the most ...

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, LittleBigPlanet, PS3, Sony, SackBoy

Sackboy sequel would fragment the community, says Media Molecule.

Media Molecule has said developing a sequel to LittleBigPlanet is not on the agenda because it would fragment the community, on which the game is so heavily focused.
