News: Valve unveils Steam "early holiday sale"

Awesome games for amazingly little. Valve has announced its "early holiday sale" on Steam, where it plans to offer a different set of discount deals every day for the next week. Highlights of the first day include the LucasArts Premier Pack reduced from nearly 90 quid to £34.99, which is enough gaming to last you until next Christmas, let alone this one. There's also the THQ Complete Pack, a similarly extravagant bundle that features Red Faction: Guerrilla, Dawn of War II, Company of Heroes, STALKER and countless others for a frankly bonkers £26.49. Steam Kicks Off Early Holiday Sale

A few days ahead of Black Friday, Steam is having an early holiday sale of its own. Valve has just announced that many of the service's most popular games will be getting steep discounts, including Dragon Age: Origins and Batman: Arkham Asylum . The current sale features deals on seven titles, with price cuts ranging from 25 percent to 80 percent off. It'll run until Friday at 8 AM PST, at which point a new set of deals will become available. Definitely worth keeping an eye on Steam if you're looking to expand your library on the cheap. In addition to the games that are currently on sale, Valve will also be offering deeply discounted publisher packs. At the moment, it's possible to pick up either the LucasArts Premier Pack or the THQ Complete Pack for $49.00.

World Premiere Halo: Reach at Spike Video Game Awards

GameTrailers TV's Geoff Keighley has announced via his Twitter that the Spike TV Video Game Awards are going to be held live on December 12th. Furthermore, the first "world premiere" of the show has been announced, and it is none other than Halo: Reach. On Spike, he writes "Publishers contributing exclusive new content to the VGAs include 2K, Activision, Disney Interactive Studios, Electronic Arts, LucasArts Entertainment, Microsoft Game Studios, THQ, Ubisoft, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, and more to be announced in the coming weeks." In addition, he says that VGA nominees are available now and can be voted on at the VGA website. "Uncharted, Assassins, Batman, MW2, and L4D2 are GOTY noms," he says.

News: Deleted Monkey Island content found

Read Gilbert and Schafer's offcuts. Pages of cut dialogue from the original Secret of Monkey Island game have been unearthed and published on the internet. The man responsible is Adam Bormann, designer of the Special Edition that flooded our Xbox Live Arcade with nostalgia this summer passed. "One of the things I worked on was the new hint system, which meant a lot of digging through the old original SCUMM source code to figure out how Ron Gilbert, Tim Schafer and company were tracking the state of different puzzles and whether Guybrush had completed something or not," wrote Bormann on the LucasArts Workshop blog (spotted by Kotaku). News: SWTOR's Imperial Agent revealed

Sneaky type on the dark side of the Force. BioWare and LucasArts have revealed the sixth of eight character classes in their Star Wars MMO, The Old Republic: the Imperial Agent. This rogue-style class on the Empire side specialises in subterfuge, infiltration and assassination, doing the Empire's dirty work behind the scenes. Imperial Agents' skills will be based around the use of high-tech gadgetary.
