One time, I asked Mass Effect 2 project director Casey Hudson if, when we play Mass Effect 3, Commander Shepard will be powerful enough to crack a planet in half. Hudson chuckled at the suggestion before giving an elusive answer about the kinds of epic motions that will come in the third installment. Well, after playing a quick hands-on demo of ME2, it seems like we're on the right track in terms of crazy big battles/moments in Mass Effect ; in this demo, I try to take on, and lose several times, against a freakin' gunship. Sure, a gunship isn't quite the "It's me versus the Death Star!" moment I'm dreading for ME3, but it's still plenty intimidating. I mean, it'd be like trying to take on a heavily armed AC-130 all by yourself; it's doable, but it's also something that's difficult enough to spawn a lot of queries online . It's also another example of how ME2 follows BioWare's solid tradition of creating intimidating ...

New Mass Effect 2 Character Revealed

BioWare has revealed today another new character and potential party member in the upcoming Mass Effect 2. The fourth new character and fifth character overall to be profiled in BioWare's Mass Effect 2 videos is an Asari biotic named Samara. GameSpot's latest hands-on preview of the game describes her as a vigilante who coldly hunts down criminals what the game calls a "Justicar." The video introducing Samara shows her to mainly fight with biotics with much more aggression than is normally associated with Asari. According to GameSpot, players will encounter Samara on the Asari homeworld Illium in a quest to actively recruit her. She also seems to be extremely loyal to Shepard upon joining his party.

Of all the things I was expecting to do in BioWare’s sci-fi sequel Mass Effect 2 , being able to curve projectiles around cover, Wanted: Weapons of Fate -style, wasn’t one of them. That’s not to say I’m not looking forward to blasting fools hundreds of feet in the air while crouched behind a crate, because, as a human being, I most certainly am. And if you choose ME2 ’s Adept class, you’ll be able to take advantage of this awesome power whenever you like, and that’s just fantastic. We check out one of Mass Effect 2's new recruitable characters, an Asari named Samara. The original Mass Effect proved that not every new installment in a three-part trilogy needs to conclude with an unsatisfying cliffhanger ending. With Commander Shepard and his crew having taken care of Saren and the Geth, players were able to wrap up that first chapter in a way that left them feeling as though their actions had already left a lasting mark on the galaxy. But at the same time, the galaxy in Mass Effect was a big one, and it was still easy to walk away from the game with the sense that you had only begun to scratch the surface of the world (or worlds ) around you. News: Mass Effect 2 video shows off Adept class

Plus: Quarian team-member Tali returns. BioWare has popped out two new videos for Mass Effect 2; one showing the improvements made to the Adept class and the other detailing the return of Tali. Adepts wield the game's biotic abilities with more power and breadth than any other class. Available to them are abilities Warp, Shockwave, Singularity, Throw and Pull as well as Heavy Pistol and Submachine Gun weapon training. "We've improved Biotic powers for Mass Effect 2. You can curve them around corners or around cover to hit hidden enemies. You can precisely angle a throw or pull to send an enemy flying off an edge. And when you combine multiple powers on a target the results are devastating," said Christina Norman, lead game designer, during the video. Read more...

Mass Effect 2 PC System Requirements, DRM Revealed

The system requirements for the PC version of Mass Effect 2 have been revealed, along with the surprisingly barebones DRM that BioWare will employ in the sequel -- which is to say very little DRM at all. "The boxed/retail PC version of Mass Effect 2 will use only a basic disk check and it will not require online authentication," wrote BioWare community director Chris Priestly in his announcement post on their official forum. "This is the same method as Dragon Age: Origins . Digital versions will use the retailer's protection system." As for the system requirements, you can find the quite reasonable prerequisites (both minimum and recommended) below.

Entire Mass Effect 2 Team to be Put to Work on DLC Once Game is Finished

Project Director Casey Hudson on the Mass Effect 2 team has come out and said that once the game is complete "pretty much" the entire team will begin creating additional download content for Mass Effect 2. "One of the things that we weren't able to do technically was to have the support in the game itself for certain kinds of downloadable content, It either had to be a huge pack or nothing" Hudson said. ME2 will offer more in the way that it can deliver DLC to the players, "it's technically possible to do a whole range of different kinds of downloads". Hudson didn't reveal what kind of DLC we should expect to see, but he did say they listen to fan base feedback and take that into huge consideration when working on stuff like this. So make sure you guys get out there and make your opinions and ideas heard to BioWare once Mass Effect 2 ships. This is some awesome news for Mass Effect 2 fans all around the world, should we expect DLC as big and grand as the DLC Grand Theft Auto 4 has received? Let us ...
