Avalanche Studios' over-the-top open-world action sequel takes flight March 23 in North America, March 26 in Europe and elsewhere. Ordinarily, the formula for a sequel is to top the original, making everything bigger and badder in the process. The problem facing Avalanche Studios for its upcoming Just Cause 2 is to top a game so over-the-top it let skydiving players hijack a helicopter on their way down. Isn't he supposed to have a parachute? Gamers will only have to wait a few more months to find out how the developer handled that challenge, as Square Enix today announced that Just Cause 2 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC will launch in North America on March 23. Another Jedi, another Sith. The wraps have been torn off the final two character classes in BioWare's MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic. They are the Jedi Consular and Sith Inquisitor. The classes made their first appearance in German magazine PC Games, as scanned by StarWarsMMO.net, translated by an official site forumite, and confirmed by BioWare's Sean Dahlberg. They're the second Jedi and Sith to be added to The Old Republic's line-up - the Jedi Knight and Sith Warrior have already been revealed - meaning that four of the game's eight classes wield the Force. Modern Warfare 2 Outsells Call of Duty 4 On PC

According to Infinity Ward’s creative strategist Robert Bowling, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for the PC "outsold the PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in its first week," thereby making it "the most successful PC version" to date. Clearly, Gamasutra has been duped by Bowling’s IW forum post , because as we all know, countless PC gamers boycotted the game and vowed not to buy it because of its lack of dedicated servers. And when people boycott something, especially the most highly anticipated game of the year and the sequel to a game that said boycotters supposedly loved to no end, you know there is nothing that will make them change their minds. That is unless some crafty hacker finds a way to access the game’s developer console, thereby allowing people to play multiplayer via dedicated servers. Stardock Estimates Steam has 70 Percent of Digital Market Share

Valve's Steam service has undeniably emerged as the most well-known digital distribution platform for PC games, but just how much of the digital pie do they consume? Gamasutra reports that according to internal estimates from Stardock, publisher of Sins of a Solar Empire and owner of the Impulse distribution service, Steam takes 70 percent of the market share. "Our estimation is that Steam -- as the current market leader -- enjoys approximately 70 percent of the overall digital distribution market with Impulse at 10 percent and all others combined at 20 percent in terms of actual dollars generated per month," wrote Stardock chief Brad Wardell in their 2009 customer report. Wardell goes on to estimate that digital distribution will have contributed 25 percent of revenue "for a typical PC game publisher on a new title" in 2009. Are you a Left 4 Dead fan? Do you love burrowing into a game's directories on your PC and modifying files? Then this somewhat complicated tutorial is for you. A group of modders have figured out how to import the first game's campaigns into Left 4 Dead 2 , and it will only take owning both games, some technical know-how, and quite a bit of patience. Since Valve has yet to release the SDK for Left 4 Dead 2, the process of modding the game is a little more in-depth than usual. You can find a full tutorial of how to make the process work on L4DMods.com ( via Kotaku), but be aware it'll involve a lot of manually editing file names and transporting certain files from one directory to another. And even then, to get it all working you're going to need to fiddle with the command console in Left 4 Dead 2 (although honestly, that'll probably be the easiest part of this process). Remember the slate of downloadable content for Resident Evil 5 I wrote about yesterday ? In the announcement, Capcom seemed to pretend there wasn't a PC version of R esident Evil 5 . That's because the company hasn't scheduled the content to be released for the PC version. "No plans for PC at this point," said a Capcom spokesperson to me this morning. Capcom has been a surprisingly strong supporter of the PC platform and digital distribution in the past few years, traditionally releasing PC versions of its high-profile games a few months after the console versions.
