Second Downloadable Resident Evil 5 Episode To Be Called "Desperate Escape"

Capcom may not have publicly announced what the second Resident Evil 5 downloadable episode will be called, but the publisher had to tell others -- and Internet sleuths followed the trail. According to Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition 's breakdown at the British Board of Film Classification , the second downloadable episode for Resident Evil 5 will be called Desperate Escape . Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition collects all the downloadable content into one retail package. That bundle will be released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in March, but the downloadable content itself will be rolled out in waves before that. The content is not planned for the PC right now. Of course, the name Desperate Escape doesn't include "important" details that explain what exactly players will be doing during Desperate Escape ...but hey, it's a start. All this talk of Resident Evil 5 is just reminding me I never finished the damn game.

Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition's New Scenarios Detailed?

We already know that there will be tons of new Mercenaries content available as DLC and in Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition. But what about the promised new scenarios? Well, Brazilian RE fansite REVIL, as translated via Biohaze.com, have supposedly obtained full details on both scenarios. As already known, the "Lost in Nightmares" scenario will deal with Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine visiting the familiar Arklay Mansion for events that precede the game. But what about the second scenario, Desperate Escape? Find out after the cut.

Resident Evil 5 Downloadable Content Not Planned For PC Version "At This Point"

Remember the slate of downloadable content for Resident Evil 5 I wrote about yesterday ? In the announcement, Capcom seemed to pretend there wasn't a PC version of R esident Evil 5 . That's because the company hasn't scheduled the content to be released for the PC version. "No plans for PC at this point," said a Capcom spokesperson to me this morning. Capcom has been a surprisingly strong supporter of the PC platform and digital distribution in the past few years, traditionally releasing PC versions of its high-profile games a few months after the console versions. This year, it happened with both Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV . If you want the extra content, such as two new single-player episodes, you'll need a console. Have something to share? Capcom has announced that the swathe of new downloadable content for Resident Evil 5, to be released early next year, will make its way onto a disc after all. Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition for the PS3 and Xbox 360 - not the PC - will include the original game, two new episodes, new costumes, and eight new playable characters for a new version of Mercenaries Mode called The Mercenaries Reunion. It will be released on 9th March 2010 in North America at a standard retail price of $49.99, and 12th March in Europe. The PS3 Gold Edition will pack it all onto a Blu-ray, while the 360 version will be the original game on DVD plus a DLC download token, so if your 360 is offline, then tough. Read more... > >

Capcom Announces Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition

Capcom is still planning to release the Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition content as downloadable content. However, the newly announced Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition will also contain the new content, allowing those who like their physical media to enjoy it as well. Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition will contain two new episodes, new costumes, and a Mercenaries mode refresh called "Mercenaries Reunion." The first new episode will be titled "Lost in Nightmares," and will star Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield as they investigate Umbrella Corporation founder Ozwell E. Spencer's hideaway. For those opting to purchase the content online, Lost in Nightmares and the first costume pack will be available online starting February 17 for the Xbox 360, and February 18 for the PS3. Another costume pack and the second DLC episode will be arriving March 3.

Media: Resident Evil 5 Goes for the Gold with New Content

Today, Capcom has officially announced their plans for bringing over the contents of Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition to North America. As we predicted, not only will the content be available through downloads, but there will also be a retail version known as "Resident Evil: Gold Edition," which features everything on a $49.99 Blu-ray for PlayStation 3, while Xbox 360 owners get a DVD with a download token. Strangely, however, there is no mention of motion control augmentation for the PS3 version. Perhaps they're simply not ready to go into detail? Capcom Reveals Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, Slate Of Downloadable Content

Resident Evil 5 was released way back in March, but Capcom's only now getting around to releasing some ambitious downloadable content for the latest zombie adventure (there was some at launch, too). Over the next few months, Capcom will distribute two downloadable episodes -- the Jill Valentine-starring Lost In Nightmares and an untitled second episode -- new costumes and a "The Mercenaries Reunion" mode with eight new characters and new weapon load-outs. Capcom has released no details on what to expect from the second downloadable episode. Lost In Nightmares follows Valentine and Chris Redfield as they investigate Umbrella co-founder Ozwell E. Spencer's hidden mansion. Chris and Jill reunited for a mansion tour? Sounds pretty cool. BioWare Willing To Consider Co-op For Future RPGs

Co-op play is all the rage these days, having made it into everything from Resident Evil 5 to Demon's Souls . It hasn't quite made it into BioWare's RPGs yet, but it is something that the studio is willing to consider (via Videogamer ). Asked whether future Dragon Age and Mass Effect titles will allow players to work together as parties, co-founder Ray Muzyka said, "Sure. We would consider it. We haven't announced anything on that front yet, but those are interesting ideas." "They could make a great gameplay experience. Whether we'll do them or not remains to be decided."

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has sold almost 5 million units in combined sales on its opening day in the United Kingdom and United States alone, according to publishing giant Activision. To put this in to perspective, Capcom’s Resident Evil 5 reportedly hit the 5 million mark after a month of being on sale worldwide. Having successfully grossed £47 million in combined sales in a single day (UK only), Activision and Infinity Ward’s latest stands tall even above the lofty heights of last year’s mega-hit Grand Theft Auto 4 which managed £27 million on its first day respectively. Following the runaway success of its seminal predecessor Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, many will find this unsurprising as reports recently stated 3 million copies were shipped to the UK alone to deal with the incredible demand. New Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles Trailer, Plus Possibility of RE5 for Wii?

Developer cavia is launching Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles later this month, but if Capcom is saying what I think they're saying, it won't be the last time they work on Wii. According to Capcom's Matt Dahlgren during an online Q&A;, cavia has been running some tests on a version of Resident Evil 5 for the Wii, and it may get the go ahead. At Resident Evil 5's launch, it was announced that a Wii version was not technically possible. But after some of the work that Cavia has done (with RE: Darkside Chronicles), the producers of Resident Evil 5 over in Japan now think it is possible. Some of the light effects in the South America stage are pretty incredible. Whether it is going to come, I don't know the answer to that question. But, it has been said that now at least it is possible. I'll leave the discussion on if Resident Evil 5 needs a Wii port to you guys. Group Starting a Campaign for the Return of Resident Evil Outbreak

Resident Evil Outbreak was the first Resident Evil game on the PS2, and it, along with its sequel, Outbreak File #2, set the standard for moving the RE franchise into the online realm. Now, a movement is starting to entice Capcom to bring back the Outbreak franchise for the HD era. The campaign was started by Kombo reader Graeme Arkell, who has already gained support from multiple Resident Evil fansites such as Biohaze.com, and Helldescent.com, as well as support from Capcom-Unity administrators, and even actor D.C. Douglas, the voice of Wesker in Resident Evil 5. Remember a month ago, when Capcom put out the call for people to vote on how they would like the Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition to be delivered in North America, Europe, and Australia? Well, the results are in, and the votes for digital download were 1,500 to the 900 in favor of a physical product. And that's precisely what they are going to do. Who says publishers never listen? "You will not be asked to purchase a new copy of the game just to get at the new stuff," said Capcom's Director of Communications, Chris Kramer, "just make sure to hold on to your RE5 disc and you'll be ready to roll in Spring 2010 when we make available new Resident Evil adventures (and some other things we haven't told you about yet) for you. Keep that in mind when thinking about selling RE5 back or handing it off to a friend ;)" Of course, just because they're offering it digitally, I don't think that necessarily means it won't be available in a physical form as well. Resident Evil 5 Alternative Edition will eventually be making its way to North America, but not as a boxed game. Instead, the remixed edition will be available as downloadable content, as chosen by some 1500 voters on Capcom-Unity . "Based on your feedback, in North American, European and Australia territories, Capcom will be making the new RE5 content for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 available as downloadable content," Capcom's Chris Kramer wrote. "You will not be asked to purchase a new copy of the game just to get at the new stuff, just make sure to hold on to your RE5 disc and you?ll be ready to roll in Spring 2010 when we make available new Resident Evil adventures (and some other things we haven?t told you about yet) for you."
