Little Big Planet to Add Online Creation Next Week

Little Big Planet is set to get one of its long-awaited features next week, according to a new post on the game's site. Since the game's release, fans have lamented the lack of online support for the creation features, and that's finally one of the new additions of version 1.21. The update also adds a host of other changes, including matchmaking tweaking, improved save data, and increased profile space. There are also numerous minor updates, like an Auto-Reject function for game invites and Silver Sackboy badges for incomplete levels.

The update is due out next Monday, November 30, and has been named the "Leerdammer" update after a cheese that "becomes more pronounced with age." Considering the size of the update, and the fact that Little Big Planet is over a year old now, it seems like a fitting name.

Barack Obama and Sackboy: the dynamic duo who will pave the way toward peace and prosperity in the 21st century?

Maybe, or maybe not. In any case, President Obama announced today a new initiative focused on improving education in the fields of science, technology engineering, and match (STEM) dubbed "Educate to Innovate."

The program has partnered up with several notable names in the field of education, from Sesame Street to the Discovery Channel, as well as a website backed by Time-Warner Cable and video game initiatives. And that brings us to the part which sees the story come to you from our own website.

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, Sony, Microsoft, SackBoy

Sonic Races into LittleBigPlanet

Finally, a Sonic side-scrolling game returns to consoles! Well, sort of. Sega and Media Molecule have teamed up to add Sonic and friends to the playable skins in LittleBigPlanet, revealed at the site for PlayStation Asia.

Now, you can dress up Sackboy as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Dr. Eggman, or the Were-hog. And maybe, if you squint ever so slightly, you can go back to an age where Sonic games used to be good.

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, Sonic, LittleBigPlanet, Sega, SackBoy, Eggman

LittleBigPlanet Portable Review

Sackboy has made the migration from the PS3 to the PSP and PSP GO with LittleBigPlanet Portable , but is the game the same charmer it was when it took the PlayStation world by storm, or has it lost something in translation? Never fear, because reviewer Jake Gaskill has played the game and has the scoop for you.
This is what he had to say:
'Let’s just get something out of the way up front: if you weren’t a fan of Media Molecule’s brilliant platforming/do-it-yourself level-building game, LittleBigPlanet , there is nothing in the new PlayStation Portable version that will change your mind. Strange as it may sound, the statement is actually a testament to just how fantastic a job the team at SCE Studios Cambridge have done bringing the adorable adventure game to Sony’s handheld console. And, if you missed out on the PS3 game, the portable version is much more accessible, and serves as a great introduction to the franchise.'

PSP | Little Big Planet sequel 'counterproductive' - Media Molecule

PS3 developer discounts follow-up to user-generated content-heavy puzzle-platformer, saying new installment would harm player community.
Media Molecule's Little Big Planet has been one of Sony's most successful PlayStation 3 exclusives, both as a stand-alone retail release and as a platform for downloadable content. So, when a June job listing revealed the Guildford, England-based developer was staffing up for a "ground-breaking, AAA, PS3 title for Sony Computer Entertainment," many believed that a sequel was on the way.

Sackboy apparently has plenty more costumes in the works.

However, that now appears not to be the case. In a recent interview with UK gaming site Critical Gamer , Media Molecule level designer Danny Leaver discounted the idea of a Little Big Planet sequel for the PlayStation 3, due to the harmful impact it would have on the player community.

"We'd never want to do that," he said. "That'd be the most ...

Find more top gaming news, videos, and blogs on GamerBlips: Gaming, LittleBigPlanet, PS3, Sony, SackBoy

Sackboy sequel would fragment the community, says Media Molecule.

Media Molecule has said developing a sequel to LittleBigPlanet is not on the agenda because it would fragment the community, on which the game is so heavily focused.
Media Molecule Says No Little Big Planet Sequel Coming

Media Molecule has no plans for a sequel to Little Big Planet , and even thinks that such a move would contradict their goal for the game. In an interview with Critical Gamer, level designer Danny Leaver said the company would "never want to do that. That'd be the most counterproductive thing you could do I think." Producer Martin Lynagh added, "I think what you've seen so far from Little Big Planet, that's the way it's going to continue."

The future of the game still looks like it will be going strong for the Sackboy faithful, with water levels on the way and the PSP port due in a couple of weeks . For a game that's all about building, the developers seem content to keep it that way and add to what they already have. A successor may come eventually, but for the immediate future it looks like the first LBP will be the only one.
