Blizzard Enters the MicroTransaction World.
MMORPG Games & MMO News - MMOCrunch —
... Lil’ K.T. is a miniature lich who bears a striking resemblance to the legendary lord of Naxxramas, Kel’Thuzad. But don’t let his diminutive stature fool you: Lil’ K.T. has a diabolical laugh and wields true power at his bony fingertips, randomly wreaking icy havoc on critters who dare to cross his path. You can now buy this new pet for $10 on the Blizzard Store. (Lil’ K.T. ) ...

Pay For Pets: WoW Cash Event Horizon
Rock, Paper, Shotgun —
“WoW Microtransactions Begin”, says the headline on Bluesnews. I gasp and imagine what the RPS community will make of the idea of selling a mini-lich and a panda with a hat – two in-game pets – for $10 a pop. Buying the panda one actually gives money to charity, too. He’s not evil, you see. My journalistic analysis of this occurrence amounts to me inviting you to imagine Scrooge McDuck’s diving-into-gold sequence, only with squealing Blizzard executives.

... whose partial proceeds will go to Make-A-Wish Foundation and Lil’ KT, the mini Lich, who is a much cuter version of Kel’Thuzad, the end boss in the floating Naxxramas dungeon. What’s so special about them? Well for starters Lil’ KT will laugh “maniacally” at foes as you destroy them in PvP. That alone might be worth the 10 bucks. ...

The Pandaren Monk (above left) and Lil’ KT cost $10 each from the Blizzard online store. When you buy them, they bind to your WoW account, meaning that you can equip them with any character you create.
For every purchase of the Pandaren Monk made before December 31, Blizzard will donate $5 to the Make-a-Wish Foundation, an organization Blizzard has history with.

Virtual WoW pet sells out
Joystiq —
... would incite enough outrage. However, Blizzard has gone one step further, declaring the Pandaren Monk pet "sold out" just one week after the launch of the store. Even though, as a virtual item, any scarcity or supply limitation would be fully artificial. And even though Blizzard pledged to donate half of the proceeds from sale of that item to Make-A-Wish until the end of the year. The Lil' K.T. pet is currently still available. ...
