Wii Bowling Ball
The Ancient Gaming Noob —
Brought to my attention via The Register, it seems that CTA Digital, taking the pursuit of Wii Sports realism a bit too far, has created a Wii remote attachment available in the form of a bowling ball.
Bowling for... what exactly?
You put your Wii remote in the ball and… well, I’ll use their description: ...
Wii Bowling Ball – TVs Beware!
www.GamesAreEvil.com —
Remember when the Wii came out? Cast your mind back, and remember the amount of people that threatened (or indeed launched) lawsuits against Nintendo for the cost of repairing/replacing their TVs. The strap that snapped became a problem for Nintendo, and they released two fixes; one was of course the thicker strap, and another was a Wiimote Rubber Casing (commonly referred to as the Wii-dom). And now CTA Digital has decided to come along, and undo all that good work. How?
The Wii Bowling Ball.
Now I’m all for plastic Wii add-ons; I have a Venom Light Blaster for Ghost Squad, House of the Dead and such. But a bowling ball is just asking for trouble. We’ve ...
The Wii Bowling Ball: The Most Dangerous Wii Accessory Yet
The Escapist : Latest News —
Here's a surefire way to destroy your expensive TV or severely injure your loved ones: CTA Digital's Wii Bowling Ball, an accessory that'll give Wii Bowling that extra edge of realism that's acquired by nearly guaranteeing you'll break something while using it. For all that Nintendo tries to make sure that people's idiocy or clumsiness doesn't get the better of them and cause something to be destroyed while using the Wii, at some point it just becomes inevitable. Or, rather, more than inevitable if you're talking about using something like CTA Digital's newest accessory, the Wii Bowling Ball ...
The real reason we can't have nice things
Destructoid —
I thought we had left all these plastic add-ons for Wii Sports in the past. Consumers had smartened up and we weren't supposed to see them as much anymore. But it seems the opposite is true; consumers are just getting dumber. At least if CTA Digital's newest accessory, the Wii Bowling Ball, sells well it will mean that. I mean you had to challenge yourself a bit to break your television with a Wii Remote, but picking up this blue ball of glass destroying power is simply asking to put a large crack in whatever you swing it at. The way it works is simple, and yet surprisingly deadly. You place the Wii Remote inside the ball and ...
Wii Bowling Ball Accessory Pushes Limits of Absurdity
1UP RSS feed —
... "This ultra-realistic accessory allows you to mimic all the critical motions a 'striking' performance requires," reads the product's official description. "This Wii peripheral is the first of its kind to be fashioned after an authentic bowling ball, turning your wii-mote into the optimum performance-enhancing accessory!" This statement reminds us of the simple truth that some things are a "first of their kind" because they're legitimately brilliant new ideas, and others because no one was ever crazy enough to bother making them before. ...
New Wii accessory tumbles into absurdity
That VideoGame Blog —
1up picked up on a new accessory (via Gearfuse) for the Wii that CTA Digital recently released. Yes, it’s a bowling ball. And yes, it’s absurd.
The device is designed to encapsulate the Wii remote, and allow the user to hold the ball like a real bowling ball while still maintaining control of the game. According to CTA’s website, “This ultra-realistic accessory allows you to mimic all the critical motions a ’striking’ performance requires.” Not enough information is floating around on the internet yet for one to make a responsible judgment, but my BS-meter is reading off the charts. ...
The Wii Has Balls... Bowling Balls, That Is
Kombo.com —
[image] Here's a story that's been rolling around a little bit lately, and the general consensus seems to be the same: CTA Digital's new peripheral for the Wii is just asking for trouble. This isn't the first time we've seen this sort of thing; remember the ...
Video: How the Wii Bowling Ball Works
GameLife —
If you’ve wanted to add more realism to your Wii bowling experience, that’s where Wi-Bowl comes in.
Peripheral maker CTA Digital has just released a new video showing how their new bowling ball-shaped accessory works. Modeled after a real bowing ball, it encases your Wii remote controller (and it works with the Wii MotionPlus add-on) and weighs 1.1 pounds.
The instructional video recommends safely securing the ball’s strap to your wrist, but we still think that Wi-Bowl could cause some serious damage if players don’t follow the instructions.

See the Wii Bowling Ball in Action, Prepare to Break Stuff
The Escapist : Latest News —
Remember hearing about the most dangerous Wii accessory yet - the Wii bowling ball - back in June ? Well, here's a video. Hide your pets. Not much to say about this one that we didn't know already: Put the Wii Remote inside the bowling ball, tighten the wrist strap, put your fingers inside the holes, and bowl away! I'm not buying it, though. Okay, maybe it only weighs 1.1 pounds. Maybe you're supposed to fix the strap so tight around your wrist you might as well be a hangman in the Old West. Maybe the directions remind you to never, ever actually release the ball. I can accept all of those things. But this still strikes me as such an apocalyptically bad idea. As if people needed to ...
Video: Cute Cub Demos Wii Bowling Ball
GayGamer.net —
... This cubby cutie has a rather questionable objective in this video: demonstrate how CTA Digital's new Wi-Bowl, a Wii bowling ball peripheral, adds to your bowling fun by simulating a large, unwieldy ball. Like the kind you'd bowl with, if you weren't at home in front of the television playing a video game that does not include 60 feet of parquet flooring. ...
Wii Bowling Ball Back in the News
The Ancient Gaming Noob —
You remember this guy from CTA Digital. I mentioned it back in June.
I'm a disaster to be, just a disaster to be...
It is back in the news.
Sort of.
It hasn’t become the wrecking ball of terror yet.
And you have to consider Yahoo blogs news.
You see, somebody over at Yahoo blogs wrote a post about this ...
