... a bit and noted that "it would be likely that we would try to make that same functionality perhaps more compact and perhaps even more cost-efficient" when speaking about future hardware (which honestly may have been talking strictly about accelerometers). Of course, this is about as predictable as it gets -- hardware tends to always shrink and get cheaper as technology improves -- but hey, there it is! Now, let your imaginations do what they were born to do.

Netflix movie streaming comes to PS3

Netflix has introduced movie streaming to Sony's PS3, with US PS3 users getting the service as of November this year. The movie rental giant will provide PS3 users with a free Blu-ray providing them with all the necessary software to allow their console to access the service. A firmware update to the PS3 at some point in the future will update PlayStation 3s to also allow it to do the same. There will be no extra cost involved for Netflix subscribers to instantly stream movies from Netflix's extensive movie back catalogue, on top of what they already pay to access the service ($8.99 a month). Nintendo has won permission to run the NHS's Change4Life logo on its marketing for the forthcoming Wii Fit Plus, the first time a games company has been endorsed by the UK government's Department of Health. It's a huge and positive step forward for the games industry and the wider appreciation of the positive aspects of gaming amongst non-gamers. A Japanese newspaper has printed reports this week that Nintendo is preparing a larger screen DSi, targeting older gamers and 'brain-trainers'. The report comes from Tuesday's morning edition of the Nikkei Shimbun claiming that the new DSi will have a notably larger 4-inch screens (the current DSi features dual 3.25″ displays. The new big-screen DSi is also said to stick to Nintendo DSi's Japanese retail price of 18900 yen.
