Is Nintendo Making A Motion Sensing DS Card? [Japan]
Kotaku — ... trademark database indicates such. The trademark is for a "DS Houi Sensor Card" with "houi" meaning "direction" or even "cardinal point" in Japanese. Website Siliconera wonders if that means it refers to the ability to sense motion or detect direction. (Maybe Nintendo is making some sort of compass game?) This isn't the first time DS has seen motion controls — first party peripheral add-on/game combo Slide Adventure: MAGKID came out last year. Nintendo Developing A Direction Sensing DS Card? Two Nintendo trademarks pop up - a DS card that senses motion?
GoNintendo — ... Two Nintendo trademarks popped up last night, with DS Houi Sensor Card being the more interesting of the two. The world ‘Houi’ in Japanese translates into direction, which would make one believe that this trademark has something to do with motion-sensing DS cards. Of course, that’s just a guess at this point in the game. This is definitely a trademark to keep an eye on. On the weirder side is the ‘Wii Golden Handle’ trademark. Who the hell knows what that one is for! Link This entry was posted on Wednesday, January 14th, 2009 at 7:58 am and is filed under ...

Nintendo making motion-sensing DS card?
Joystiq [Nintendo] — Filed under: News, ImportsA recent Japanese trademark threw up some flags over at Siliconera, as Spencer managed to find an odd one. Apparently for a motion-sensing DS card, the title for the trademark reads as "DS Houi Sensor Card". Curious, to say the least. Houi means direction, so it leads one to deduce that it's a card that senses direction or, more likely, motion. What's most interesting about this is Nintendo apparently means to include this technology directly into a DS card. It'd be like being able to play WarioWare ...

Wii Meets DS? Nintendo Registers a New Trademark
Kombo.com — ... pop up, by all reckoning) for something called a "DS Houi Sensor Card." Houi is Japanese for direction so the trademark is related to a DS card that can detect direction or perhaps even sense motion. Motion sensing games for the DS have been done before. Slide Mag Kid came out in 2007. However, it would be interesting if Nintendo built direction/motion sensing directly into DS cards without the use of an accessory. I wonder what Nintendo franchise could make use of such a device. -- Siliconera ...am I the only one who immediately thought "WarioWare?" That, or maybe something ...

Nintendo patent 'points' to direction-sensing DS card
Joystiq — ... Siliconera reports that Nintendo has filed for a new trademark in Japan on something called the "DS Houi Sensor Card."
