Nintendo DSi Release Date - April 5
4 color rebellion — ... warrant the high price. Some interesting things within the press release: - The launch colors will just be blue and black. - “In addition to downloadable games, Nintendo DSi is able to play games made specifically for the system and sold at retail.” - This is worded awkwardly, but it could mean that there will be DSi only retail games, GBC-style. - Rhythm Heaven will launch alongside it. Check out the full press release at the official site.

DSi release date confirmed - coming to US on April 5th
Wii Wii — ... The official site can be found here, though it’s little more than a press release at the moment - a press release which also confirms that Rhythm Heaven will launch alongside DSi. Interestingly, it talks about the game’s music being composed by Japanese producer TSUNKU, so it seems that an EBA-style makeover is off the cards. ...

Wii Price Hikes Coming to U.K.?
The Escapist : Latest News — ... and upcoming DSi , which will hit the shelves on April 3, will remain untouched. "The present exchange rate was taken into consideration when we announced the trade price of DSi to retailers across Europe. At this time, we do not expect to have to change the trade price we charge to retailers for the DSi or DS price in the UK in the foreseeable future," the company said. And while the cost on current software will remain unchanged, the company said new releases could also see a bounce as a result of the exchange rate. "We will not be increasing the trade price of existing Wii ...

Nintendo DSi impressions and hands-on
Technology: Games blog | guardian.co.uk — ... Remember when Nintendo consoles came boxed in brightly coloured, mascot-laden packaging, that left you in no doubt that what you had just bought was basically a toy? Not any more. The Nintendo DSi - the update to the hugely popular DS Lite - comes encased in Apple-style clean packaging. It seems minimalism is just as important as Mario these days. The DSi launches in Europe next week (3rd April) and I've been playing around with one for a few days now. Is it worth the 149.99 price tag? ...

You already know the basics: bigger screen, two cameras, and a new download store. Welp, Sony Ain't Gonna Like This [Ruh Roh]
Kotaku — Go punch up pspgo.co.uk. That's not exactly the product being being flogged there, is it. A Chinese registrant picked up the domain name in late April, and has plastered it with a replica of the DSi's product page. Now, as Destructoid points out, there ain't no page forpspgo.com, so maybe Sony really doesn't give a crap here. It looks like this guy went squatting on a domain he thought they'd want, and has gotten really spiteful now that no money has changed hands. Doubtful the number of people who deliberately type in "pspgo.co.uk" and ...

Nintendo Downloads for August 17th
Aeropause Games — For downloads this week, Nintendo has gone and pull out a ninja classic that old school fans will love, as well as adding a little bit of rock out fun on your DSi. Hitting the Virtual Console this week, we have The Revenge of Shinobi, the classic side-scrolling ninja fighter that became a classic with gamers back in the early 1990’s.  As for rocking out, Gameloft seems to be latching into the Rock Band mantra with Guitar Rock Tour, which allows DSi owners to play and remix songs, as well as take pictures to add to the ambience of their stage. Check out the jump for all the titles that you can ...

Nintendo Download Monday - August 24th Edition
Aeropause Games — This week, the download offerings from Nintendo are a bit sparce, but still the offerings are solid.  This big news for the week is the second installment of the Super Star Wars series on the Virtual Console.  Also, we have an offering in the WiiWare Store as well as one in the DSiWare store for our mobile users. Check out the jump for all the info on the new titles, as well as pricing information and ratings. Nintendo Download Jedi Battles, Marvelous Bubbles and Frantic Underground Action Faraway galaxies and otherworldly fun ...

Nintendo Download Monday - August 31 edition
Aeropause Games — Hey, weren’t we supposed to get Super Return of the Jedi this week? Instead, Episode 2 of Tales of Monkey Island is now gracing your WiiWare… as well as “single-player party mini-game” 3-2-1 Rattle Battle. Somebody explain that one to me. A party game. For one player. With leaderboards! Phantasy Star (Sega Master System version) is now on the Virtual Console. I know I’m an idiot, but I can’t help mixing up Phantasy Star with Space Harrier. I’m missing a organizing synapse there. For my money, $5 for Puzzle League Express on DSiWare sounds pretty ...

Nintendo Download Monday - Yesterday Edition
Aeropause Games — Today’s (yesterday’s) Nintendo WiiWare/DSiWare update comes along with a friendly warning that the free 1000 DSiWare points offer is about to expire. Any DSi handhelds purchased and registered by October 5, 2009 get the $10 buff. Any bought after that get bubkis. In ‘Ware news, today I learned the full names of the “stars” of Contra: Lance Bean and Bill Rizer. Contra Rebirth, thus far a 1000-point WiiWare exclusive, replaces Lance with space samurai Genbei Yagyu. You may remember him from 2004’s Neo Contra. Or you may not. Also on WiiWare, there’s the ...

Nintendo Download Monday – Astonishing Hot-Blood edition
Aeropause Games — It’s a big week for new Nintendo downloads, with two DSiWare offerings, three WiiWare games, and one NES VC release. Available now on WiiWare is the umpteenth Texes Hold’Em game, this time with Mii importability and online play (600 points). Spaceball: Evolution (800 points) is totally NOT about Spaceballs: The Movie. And the looks-like-a-typo Mart Racer (800 points) lets you ride a shopping cart in a supermarket sweep. The DSi gets a mascot platformer in the form of Oscar in Toyland (800 points) and an unexpected first-party release: Art Academy: First Semester (800 points). In Art ...

Nintendo Download Monday: Your Remote is full of people
Aeropause Games — We’re leading off the weekly Nintendo Download post with a video of You, Me and the Cubes in action, because it’s the kind of thing that is difficult to explain. It’s a balance game where you toss people onto a floating cube. The people – and here’s the part that gets me – are said to live inside your Remote, so a throwing action chucks them into your TV. I hope the Remote speaker makes little “help us” noises. Between these guys, the Miis and all the Rabbids in our Remotes these days, things ...

Nintendo Download Monday – Semesters sure come up on you fast
Aeropause Games — It seems like only two weeks ago that we started the First Semester of Art Academy on DSiWare, and now the Second Semester has already started! At this rate, we’ll have graduated from the program by Halloween. I’m a little more interested in Dragon Quest Wars, a tile-based strategy game new to DSiWare from Square Enix. Or maybe even Arkanoid Plus for WiiWare, which, if you’ve been paying attention over the past 20 years, probably tells you enough about the gameplay just on title alone. Also on WiiWare is the obnoxiously named Driift Mania, a top-down racer. Nintendo needs to start ...

Nintendo Download Monday – the OG FF edition
Aeropause Games — Hope you like Final Fantasy! As in, the NES original. Because that’s just about the only item showing up in this week’s Nintendo Download. $5 for Final Fantasy sounds a fair bit better than $10 for last week’s Altered Beast. Seriously, what was up with that pricing? Was that a typo and nobody noticed because Altered Beast sucks? WiiWare gets a $5 word search game and the 3D tank/plane shooter Thorium Wars arrives on DSiWare for $10. Full press release after the jump. And remember, TODAY is the deadline for the free 1000 DSi Points deal for buying a new DSi. ...

Nintendo Download Monday – the Super Chaos Hippo Pong edition
Aeropause Games — A light week for Wii and DSi downloads, with only three new games on tap. 500 points gets you a pinball game on DSi, Pinball Pulse: The Ancients Beckon. Or you could pick up Gravitronix on WiiWare, which looks like an 8-player circular Pong with an anime vibe and all the chaos of Hungry Hungry Hippos with a four year old. Then there’s 800 points for Final Fight 2, an SNES game for Virtual Console. Have we reached the point where Nintendo needs to revisit the point structure for VC games? We’re now getting all-new games for both DSi and Wii that range from 500 to 1000 points… and ...

Nintendo Download Monday – October 19th Edition
Aeropause Games — This week, Nintendo has eight new downloads for their Wii and DSi storefronts.    For those that want a classic fix, you can get RYGAR from the virtual console for 600 points.  The DSiWare store brings Nintendo DSi owners five different Domo games, including a Hard Hat Domo title that sounds very similar to the PC classic Hard Hat Mack.  Each of these titles will set you back 200 DSiPoints. Finally, the WiiWare gets a new case of the Lost Winds, as Frontier has released Lost Winds: Winter of the Melodias, a second entry for the critically acclaimed Lost Winds series of games.  Check the jump ...

Nintendo Download Monday – the by god it’s Halloween edition
Aeropause Games — Things I learned from this week’s Nintendo Download press release: 1. You can’t have two Zekes or two Julies. (from Zombies Ate My Neighbors, SNES Virtual Console, 800 points) 2. Fazzy the Ghost will have you using the Wii Remote in ways you never imagined. (from Ghost Mansion Party, WiiWare, 1000 points) 3. It is possible to have a Sudoku game with no fancy subtitle, so long as you all-caps it. (SUDOKU, DSiWare, 200 points) 4. The third Tales of Monkey Island is out. (Tales of Monkey Island Chapter Three, WiiWare, 1000 points) 5. Nintendo’s “PictureBook ...

Nintendo Download Monday – the another freaking Street Fighter?!?! edition
Aeropause Games — Seriously. Can we just knock this the hell off? How many ports of Street Fighter do we need on the Virtual Console? To make matters worse, this “new” one is a TG-16 version hilariously titled “Fighting Street”! Are you freaking kidding me?!?! Yeah, sure, let’s sell it for 800 points, because that’s fair. Or you can hold out for Fighting Street Alpha Prime DX. In other news, you can keep the Halloween train rollin’ with “Aha! I Got It!” Escape Game, which tells the horrifying tale of a father who locks his son in a room and forces him to find a way out. ...

Nintendo Download Monday – the excited about plankton edition
Aeropause Games — Remember two weeks ago when Nintendo announced Excitebike: World Rally on their weekly Channel informercial? Now it’s out. Surprise! It’s like Nintendo wants you to have nothing to look forward to, aside from vague promises about the next Mario or Zelda release. The four-player World Rally sells for 1000 Wii points, has online play, and the much-loved Excitebike level editor. Electroplankton was an obscure DS release, a music toy available only online or at the Nintendo World Store in NYC. Starting today, the non-game is available in component parts on DSiWare. Five of the planned ten releases ...

Nintendo Download – November 16th Edition
Aeropause Games — This week’s edition of Nintendo Download has five new demos for consumers to check out and see if the games are worth their hard earned Wii points.  Also, it looks as if we do not have enough Street Fighter titles on the Virtual Console, as we have another joining the fray.  For those of you are looking for more titles to fill up your memory cards on their DSi, there are a handful of titles for you to enjoy, including a new bowling title. Check out the jump for the full release schedule, and pricing. Nintendo Download – Try Before You Buy: Nintendo Offers 5 ...

Nintendo Download Monday – Blob Karts… with the PooYoos!
Aeropause Games — There’s some serious action in this week’s Nintendo Download, including the long-requested favorite Super Mario Kart. Japan has had SNES Mario Kart on the VC since June, so it seems clear Nintendo of America was holding this one for a tentpole holiday release. 800 Wii Points gets you this franchise-birthing classic. Your other Virtual Console title this week is A Boy and His Blob: Trouble on Blobolonia. This is the game that inspired the nostalgia train that led to the recent new BnB release. 500 points, NES. This week’s WiiWare brings us the third BIT.TRIP game, ...
