Nintendo Plays A Game For Me, Includes Slur
Video game companies send me games: not surprising. Yesterday, Nintendo sent me a game they played for me: say what? In my mailbox yesterday was a copy of 2005's "Animal Crossing: Wild World" for the DS out of the shrinkwrap and accompanied with a letter on Nintendo stationery written in the ...

Nintendo Sends Game to Journos With Racial Epithet Surprise [Nintendo Gets Racist?]
Kotaku — ... version sent me by Nintendo and verified that she's just as mouthy in my version. It appears that Nintendo copied the save for the game to multiple copies of Wild Word and then sent it out to game writers. The copy came with a letter explaining that content had been unlocked so writers could check out how moving stuff from the DS Animal Crossing title to the recently released Wii version worked. We've contacted Nintendo for comment and will update when they reply. Nintendo Plays a Game for Me, Includes Slur [Multiplayer] ...

Nintendo packs Animal Crossing: Wild World suitcase, comes with slur inside
GoNintendo — ... Depending on how you feel about that word, you would either think that someone at Nintendo is a fan of rap, or someone slipped a not-so-nice slur into their game. I am sure this was just a mistake, and was never meant to hurt anyone. Still…I bet this causes a bit of a stir. Animal Crossing Drops The N-Bomb
The Escapist : Latest News — ... had someone play the game and then copied the saves for distribution to game writers. (Not me, sadly.) It turns out that you can train the game's virtual residents to say all kinds of new and interesting words, and apparently someone at Nintendo thought it would be amusing to train a sheep named Baabara to greet the player with a hearty, "How are you, n---a?" The slur was first discovered by Stephen Totilo of MTV Multiplayer , and then confirmed by ...

Animal Crossing: Wild, Racist FILTH

Nintendo Makes Animal Crossing PR Gaffe
Evil Avatar - News Items — ... But as spotted by MTV Multiplayer and confirmed by GameSpot, not everyone in the city was very neighborly. Specifically, the character of Baarbara the sheep greets players by using a racial epithet (pictured) in a modified form commonly used as a greeting in hip-hop culture. The line also includes a line of dialogue from the film Full Metal Jacket which Asian-Americans might find offensive. Wild World allows players to customize greetings, and it appears the objectionable wording was inserted using that function. ...

Naughty Words Found in Promo Copies of 'Animal Crossing: Wild World.'
G4 TV - TheFeed — ... Stephen Totilo over at MTV Multiplayer first discovered the "extra content" when he encountered Baabra the Sheep and she very casually and lightheartedly referred to him as a...ummm...bad word. We can say "lightheartedly" because it was a variation on the slur, ending in an "a" instead of an "er." ...

Character in Animal Crossing tosses out the N-word, Nintendo rescues our eyes
Destructoid — ... Earlier today, MTV Multiplayer spotted an odd NPC in their review copy of Animal Crossing: City Folk. Instead of the usual E-Rated greeting that most characters utter, Baarbara the Sheep tossed out a racial epithet. Her words, which you can see clearly in the above image, were originally thought to be some kind of crudely construed hip-hop greeting. ...

Nintendo Responds To N-Bomb Furor
The Escapist : Latest News — ... , and they are predictably both very regretful and not really responsible. The uproar began with Stephen Totilo of MTV Multiplayer discovered that the pre-played copy of Animal Crossing: Wild World sent to him by Nintendo featured a sheep named Baabara who welcomed him with the phrase, "How are you, n---a?" and made other conversational use of the word as well. The existence of the n-bomb was quickly verified by ...

When Animal Crossing animals go bad
Fidgit Atom Feed — ... However, it seems whoever was "pre-playing" Animal Crossing didn't quite appreciate that their customized town was going to be sent out to the wider world, much less folks who write about games. The little animals in town greet the player with an affectionate but very street name that I can't really write here. Read MTV's blog for the cute sordid detail. The animals also seem fond of quoting the "me love you long time" prostitute in Full Metal Jacket, but that line actually works if you think of it from a cuddly Animal World perspective. Not ...
