And it would be the chance to make something really good on a handheld with our handheld-focused team. That was really why we went that way. We haven’t really done any concrete, major thinking about the Wii, one way or another. They’re sort of separate issues. That and the money, Dan. Don't forget the printing of money. You can see it in the cover feature, which (sort of like how GI handled Star Trek Online) portrays R2 as Ted Price's battle against his company's own massive ambitions, along with profiles of the Max Payne movie dudes and game freelancer Rhianna Pratchett (who is, in fact, a real person, and not an NPC from EverQuest II).

Humorous: A spread interview with the head of Gamecock Media Group, which must have taken place literally minutes before he sold the company to SouthPeak in October 'cos none of that is mentioned in here -- it's still the usual pioneering-guerrilla-blablabla that every bit of Gamecock media coverage has been.

Frankly, a pretty amazing 10-page cover feature/review in the style of OXM's mega-reviews, complete with three or four interviews and more bits of trivia than an RPG fan could possibly shake a stick at long enough to digest before his arm grew tired. Otherwise, it's an issue you'll mostly buy for the reviews, since I think Play gives more space to them this month than even GI did for theirs.

Okami did so by seamlessly merging dungeons, towns, and the overworld so that the overall pace and flow of the game was more natural than a sequential town-dungeon-overworld rinse and repeat formula. If Aonuma can combine Beyond Good & Evil's personality and storytelling with Okami's pace and then bring it all into the masterful world of Hyrule with the characters and locations we all know and love, it will surely be a game to top Ocarina of Time.

Zelda Director Feels Compelled to Surpass Ocarina of Time
GameDaily BIZ Features Feed —
... The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64 to this day remains one of the highest rated and most praised games of all time. For many fans, it also represents the pinnacle of the Zelda franchise. For designer Eiji Aonuma, however, that's both a good thing and a bad thing. The man has since worked on Majora's Mask, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess , but he (and probably most gamers) would argue that none of these topped Ocarina of Time . Speaking recently to Nintendo Power , Aonuma said it's that fact that drives him forward with the Zelda series. He ...

Dead Space Extraction's twist-off limbs

The latest Nintendo Power has a feature on Dead Space: Extraction, from which Nintendo D-Pad extracted one detail about the controls, which seem to prove that there is a motion element involved in gameplay, in addition to all the pointing. The Rivet Gun is used to shoot Rivet Blades and lop off limbs (the advertised "strategic dismemberment" aspect of the game). You aim it "perpendicular to the limb you are trying to cut off," which translates to twisting the Wiimote around to line up the shot. At least we now know the game isn't ...

But is it a bad thing? Will the next “Zelda” be a bad game? It’s pretty unlikely, given Nintendo’s the track record with the franchise. It does fly in the face of Nintendo’s recent ...
