Kirri-Kirri-Kirri: Auditorium
Rock, Paper, Shotgun —
... , between the giggling at inexpert thigh-control a lovely reader got a tad uppity that I’d linked to it rather than Auditorium. Because being a beautiful, atmospheric and pristine means something is more worthy of attention or something. There’s a name we have for people like you: “Edge reader”. By which we mean “Not entirely wrong”. Because ...

... only 18 levels. Once you finish those off, there is Assembler2 which some of the original levels, some reworked levels, and some new levels. The underlying physics engine used in Assembler is the Box2D engine. It is open source, and I took a peek at the API. It appears reasonably easy to use. Maybe more games will come out using it. A commercial game based on the Box2D engine is Fantastic Contraption. It is more of a The Incredible Machine game. Auditorium The goal in Auditorium is to redirect the ...
Auditorium
Gamers With Jobs - —
... Auditorium starts you off in the deep end of things. There's little in the way of an introduction and absolutely nothing resembling a tutorial to help you make sense of the goal. But that's part of the beauty of the experience: no hand-holding is required. As with most well-crafted time wasters, the basics are easy to grasp but mastery is a more demanding pursuit. Don't sweat it. You're guaranteed to have some fun along the way. ...
Best Thing I Saw Today #37: Play Auditorium
chewing pixels —
[image] I am a sucker for most types of music game but I don’t think you need any sort of heightened interest in the relationship between music and interactivity to appreciate the brilliance of this three level flash demo for Play Auditorium. The game’s best understood through experience but, in short, you must position directional arrows in a 2D abstract space in order to guide a stream of particles towards a volume control target. When the stream of particles hits the target a looping instrument track fades in. By adding multiple volume targets the game and its musical ...
Auditorium
Dubious Quality —
Auditorium is a game I first saw mentioned over at the indispensable Rock, Paper Shotgun, and in the last few days, several of you guys have e-mailed to praise it as well. With good reason. Here's a description of the gameplay (from the website): The Flow is a stream of audio visual particles that will create sound when matched with the Audio Container of their color. Your job is to redirect this stream, using the different control mechanisms available, so that they fill the audio containers. That sounds simple, and it is ...
Auditorium: The Prettiest Musical Puzzle Game You'll Play Today [Hot Flashes]
Kotaku —
Sometimes we like our Hot Flashes to soothe us, rather than stir us into a reflexes-required panic. In fact, after playing Auditorium, the musical puzzle... experience, I've poured myself a strong cup of adult-style eggnog. You too may want to wash away the day with hard liquor and be delighted by what Auditorium has to offer. Its creators describe the Flash game as a "process of discovery and play." It's one of those titles where outlining how it plays spoils some of the fun — figure it out on your own. The Auditorium site teases that the developers may be convinced to port ...
Gaming with Auditorium, an indie treat on the edge of success
Ars Technica - Opposable Thumbs —
I invite you to play Auditorium . It's a web-only game that ends rather abruptly, but the Ars staff and the forum-goers are in rare agreement: this is something special. After it fell into our in-box, productivity ground to a halt as we all explored the mixture of music and puzzles, sharing strategy and remarking on how great the game looks and sounds. I contacted the two men behind the game only to find our reaction was typical. The challenge they face? Turning Internet success into an actual product. "I had come up with an idea to display a small flash game in the top of our company site to encourage ...

Auditorium (Demo)
TIGSource —
I think Cipher Prime’s Auditorium is a rather perfect little game. The goal of each level is to fill each of the Audio Containers by directing “The Flow” toward them with Controls that can manipulate it in various ways. To successfully fill a Container you have to make sure The Flow is the same color.
What I really like about the game is how it sort of evokes this kind of harmony between… well, harmony and disorder. Succeeding at the game doesn’t require any kind of real precision – as long as enough of the right color of Flow is touching ...
Indie Nation #43: Auditorium
Destructoid —
I don’t really play all that many indie games. It’s not that I’m prejudiced towards high-profile, big-budget titles -- I love PixelJunk Eden, for example -- but most of the games that Anthony has highlighted in this space are PC games. My piece-of-sh*t laptop is over four years old, and it can’t even handle Flash games very well without letting me know (usually through gameplay slowdown) that it doesn’t like -- or is incapable of -- doing what I’m asking it to do at that moment. That said, I tried out Auditorium, a ...
The five happiest gaming surprises of 2008
Ars Technica - Opposable Thumbs —
Last week we looked back at 2008 to see what games and releases disappointed us the most during the year. It was an agonizing list, and it made us remember all the high hopes we had for all the games that let us down. Leaving on a down note isn't our style though, so today we'll share some of the games and ideas that surprised us in a positive way this year. Let's leave the majority of the blockbusters aside, and dig into the happy surprises of the year. Boom Blox The Nintendo Wii is a system that may be selling in amazing numbers, but very few developers know how to create a compelling experience ...
Five (Short) Games You Should Play Before the Year Ends

There has been a lot said on these games already. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to add anything new, so I won't bother including my review. Indie Developers Showcase, Day 1: Auditorium
The Escapist : Latest News —
It used to be a truism that Bigger was always Better - especially in the games industry. Every year of growth has led to bigger budgets, bigger development teams and bigger action setpieces. But with all this talk lately about the Big Three, banks that are Too Big to Fail and, of course, big layoffs, it's time we recognize some of the smaller shops that are pushing the industry forward even as the big boys are cutting back. That's the idea behind The Escapist 's Indie Developer Showcase, a 10-day celebration of the designers and programmers who have struck out on their own to make the games they want to make. Each ...
Auditorium Ready To Rhythmically Soothe Your Puzzle Itch [Auditorium]
Kotaku —
Auditorium, the lovely, musical puzzle game described by its creators as a "process of discovery and play" and formerly featured as one of our Hot Flashes, has been officially, commercially released. The final version of Auditorium promises the same relaxed, creatively solved play, but now spread across 70 levels over the course of 15 acts. That, developers Cipher Prime say, will offer some 20 hours worth of gameplay. Cost to you is a price point puzzling $10.99. But if you were one of the generous souls kind enough to donate five bucks or more to the development of ...

Question of the Week: What's one "casual" game that ripped a bunch of hours out of your life?
Gaming Nexus —
by: Randy Kalista NEWS - Without turning this into a what is a "casual game"? debate, we asked our staff: What's one casual game that ripped a bunch of hours out of your life?
We normally keep our answers brief, mainly to keep you from nodding off, but we decided to post all 544 words of John Yan's stirring account of his love (and rivalry) with Yahtzee. He wasn't quite expecting that, but it's a worthy read.
"Casual" is what you make of it; we're not arguing the definition--though if you were say something like World of ...

Thunderbolt Games latest articles —
Header image Shoegazer - One PC feature by Fraser McMillan , published on Monday 6th April 2009 The PC indie scene has, in recent years, grown to an astounding size and stature. The developers are numerous and turn around original, creative titles at the third of the price of the average retail release, with the reward of a steady fan base enticing yet more to jump aboard. It’s virtually a platform in its own right, and the ideas bubbling around have lead to an area of modern gaming that should be far more niche than it actually is, birthing content arguably many times more exciting than anything the ...
In Depth: How casual gaming silently swept the world
TechRadar: Gaming news —
Casual game. It's such a horrible, snobby little phrase. There's something so patronising about it – as if just because it doesn't offer 70 hours of story, or a hundred rendered cut-scenes, that makes it somehow less of a game. It completely ignores the fact that many of the people playing them can burn through more hours in their company than any World of Warcraft player, not to mention show up any hardcore gamer in a direct competition. The biggest problem with 'casual' as a definition is that it means nothing. You can fire up Fallout 3 for a casual amble around over lunch, but ...
