... I tune right out.... there are exceptions, of course -- Bioshock, Portal, and a few others -- but those kinds of games generally have plots that are worked into the gameplay, as opposed to having a plot that exists separately from what you actually do when you play the game.
What do you think? Do you like story in your Mario or are you okay with just running around and jumping on turtles for no other reason than they're there?

Luckily, Chris Kohler, finder of Fruit Brute cellphones, over at Wired got an interview with Miyamoto, and after some questions about the sequel to Mario Galaxy, Miyamoto had plenty to say as to why Zelda was kept rather hushed at E3: ...
Miyamoto calls Microsoft motion ‘basic,’ says players ‘need something to hold’
Infendo - Nintendo blog —
xbox-natal In an interview with Wired , Nintendo’s killer-app had this to say about motion control finally becoming the industry standard:“Looking at what the other companies have shown here at E3, it feels like they have finally obtained the very basic technology for doing motion control, but… I don’t think I could create an experience that truly feels interactive if you don’t have something to hold in your hand, if you don’t have something like force feedback that you can feel from the controller.” While I still find ...

I don't think I could create an experience that truly feels interactive if you don't have something to hold in your hand, if you don't have something like force feedback that you can feel from the controller. Oh. So we need controllers for people to play? If the goal is immersion, isn't simple gesturing more intuitive than holding a plastic remote and pretending its something else?
