Adventure Island Wii Could Really Use Some Cel-shading [Wiiware]
Kotaku — Hudson's Adventure Island was never my thing. Master Higgins' penchant for 8-bit shirtlessness was kind of a turn off to me. I like my platforming protagonists to exhibit a modicum of decency. Nintendo's WiiWare service is giving Hudson another opportunity to turn sidescrolling platforming fans onto this whole Adventure Island thing. That means more Master Higgins, more floating meat-on-bone, more walking to the right. And no shirts. Maybe that's why I would prefer a cel-shaded Adventure Island as opposed to this. 4 color rebellion — I must have missed the announcement of Adventure Island for Wiiware, but here’s the gameplay video. For me, the Adventure Island series brings back so many NES memories — my friend and I would rent the games for the weekend and try to beat them. I don’t think we ever finished one back then, but it looks like Hudson will give me a second chance to beat at least one title in the series this May. What are your impressions of the graphics?
