Nintendo Power Glove Gets A Totally Rad Overhaul
GameGirl —
20 year old peripheral, the Nintendo Power Glove caught the eye of Indie game developer and modder Matt Mechtley. Matt decided to crack open the ancient piece of equipment and trick it out with some next gen hardware and bluetooth. Although it's currently not compatible with any current games on the market. That makes it about as useful as the original Nintendo Power Glove. [image] Matt posted a video of the process on his Vimeo. It's a bit long, but you can see how he took apart the machinery and replace it with new chipsets. In this, the 20th anniversary year of the Nintendo Power Glove, modder Matt Mechtley tricks it out with an accelerometer and bluetooth. But he still has to code some games to take advantage of it. Hard to believe it's only been 20 years since the creation of the "baddest" controller of them all. Matt Mechtley, who's worked on games such as Off-Road Velociraptor Safari and Minotaur China Shop, wanted to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the Power Glove by making one that could actually work. He added an ...

So Bad: Running Over Raptors with the Power Glove
GameSetWatch —
Did you know that 2009 marks the 20th year anniversary of the Power Glove, Mattel's appalling controller for the NES? Only two games specifically designed for the accessory were ever released -- Super Glove Ball and Bad Street Brawler -- but Flashbang Studios' Matt Mechtley has modified the Power Glove to work with another title, Unity-powered game Off-Road Velociraptor Safari.
Mechtley admits the Power Glove was "absolutely terrible" and "horribly precise", but says he loves the peripheral for what it represented:
"It's a precursor to virtual reality, a way for humans ...
