Obama ad encourages gamers to get off the couch
Ars Technica - Opposable Thumbs —
Barack Obama's campaign is definitely aware of the fact that appealing to gamers is in its best interests. Besides using ads in video games to encourage players to vote early, the presidential candidate now has an video on YouTube that seems targeted specifically towards gamers. The ad, posted above, displays a series of images including a couch, a wiimote, and an office cubicle; each image has the caption "You can't make history from here" attached. Not only that, but the commercial's music sounds like it's straight out of an old NES game. The point of the video is to encourage people to take Election Day off and help campaign ...

[image] Like Scott Jennings , I’m voting for Barack Obama next Tuesday. I don’t expect you to care, or be swayed, at this point, but I felt it was worth pointing out.
Obama Campaign: Put Down Those Wii-motes And Vote! [Politics]
Kotaku —
In a get-out-the-vote ad from presidential hopeful Barack Obama, the candidate is reminding voters that they need to make sure they actual do vote on Election Day, November 4. This new ad points out that you cannot make history on November 4 with a Wii-mote. (We'll take this to mean you can make history with a DualShock 3 or an Xbox 360 controller. Thank you very much Trophies and Achievements!) Obama, who is also running in-game campaign adverts in Burnout Paradise, has previously confessed his love for Pong. Obama Asks America ...
Obama Asking Gamers to Drop Their Wii Remotes on November 4 and Get Out the Vote
Kombo.com —
This year's presidential election is going to have huge ramifications on the world over the next few years -- it's our Question of the Week, for crying out loud! Presidential candidate Barack Obama appears to realize the importance of every vote, as he's asking Wii owners to drop their Remotes and get out the vote in this YouTube video.
Check out the Wii Remote getting some face time about five seconds into the ad.
I guess Xbox 360 owners can keep their hands glued to their controllers since they're being hit with Obama ads already.

Obama wants you off the couch
That VideoGame Blog —
A good sign that a candidate is basically swimming in support money is when he can afford to develop an ad directed specifically at a very niche audience. Take the above commercial for Obama which is clearly directed at gamers and prompts us to get off the couch and go make a difference. People ...
Obama hates video games, but loves video game advertising.
Sarcastic Gamer —
In a new Ad encouraging Americans to take election day off and spread the word, presidential candidate Barack Obama has reminded voters that they do actually need to…erm…vote. Makes sense to me.
VIdeo and speculation after the break.
First, here’s the video.
Did you spot it? At about the 6 second mark, a Wii mote is emblazoned upon the screen, with the caption ‘YOU CAN’T MAKE HISTORY FROM HERE’.
Yet why not a DualShock3 or a 360 controller? It’s clear that the Obama campaign sees the ...
