Assassin’s Creed: Lineage short movie premiere

As previously predicted, Assassin’s Creed 2’s Lineage premiered today on YouTube. While we’re not so surprised that Ubisoft are investing quite a bit of moolah on AC2’s marketing campaign, a mini live-action series is something else. For a 14-minute viral video, it’s pretty damn epic. It’s not going to win any Oscars, but as it is, there’s an impressive level of commitment shown for Ezio and the franchise.

Everyone always complains about game movie adaptations — but we are so not complaining about this. More please. This is the first in a series of short movies that are being developed by Hybride Technologies, the visual effects studio behind 300 and Sin City, which Ubisoft bought last year for just this sort of project. I think we can all agree that videogame movies are, for the most, junk. So when Ubisoft decided to matters into its own hands, working with Hybride Studios for a series of Assassin's Creed shorts, I was... skeptical. But the results, as you can see in this first of the three Assassin's Creed: Lineage episodes, are surprisingly decent. Not Hollywood blockbuster decent. Awesome is really the only word to describe the short Assassin's creed movie Ubisoft released today. Hybride managed to bring the Assassin's Creed 2 universe to life wuth a quality very similar to theatrical movies. I can only hope that they decide to make one sooner or later, but looking at the effort put into this series of shorts, I'd say we can definitely wait for an announcement about that sooner or later. The only flaw, unfortunately, is the mispronunciation of some italian words and names (like "Stefano" with the accent on the "a" instead of the correct one on the "e"). Since ...
